No, no, you don't get me, not talking about enjoying being in the army, but the gross inefficiency which I believe today had improved, surely right? I have read military strategies, battles etc...too

with improved technology and better educated soldiers, most armies wld be more efficient.

but using NSFs as free labour to profit a business is tantamount to committing a crime

That service is touted as serving the nation...while the hordes enjoy the parades, the NSF are doing the work, being fed & paid lowly...planting trees in HDB estates during tree planting day as community service...serving the nation.

Ok man, cool. :cool: I think you also don't get me...I am also not talking about enjoying being in the army.

My point is that armies all over the world also operate in the same slow, deliberate and orderly manner as the logistics must move first before you even move any soldier. That takes time. That is why the soldiers need to be awaken at 5am to prepare for range, first shot at 7.30 pm. For example, the unit doing the shooting can be awaken, breakfasts eaten and ready, but you need the transport guys, the store guys, the armory guys and the range guys to do their tasks first before the first shots can be off at 7.30am. Cockups happen and these have to be taken into account in the preparations.

Of course today many of what we previously viewed as time wasting events have been cut down or the time used much reduced. This is thanks to changes in army logistic doctrines and improvements in army procedures. But, still no mistake about it - it still takes time to move a modern army from activation to readiness and then operations, unless of course, like in many accounts of the world wars, recruits being sent straight from recruitment centres to the fronts as their leaders poured these cannon fodders into the fires of war.

We have also accounts of the Russian and German armies in the last throes of war recruiting teenagers into the army and then senting them to the front. They were told, no need training. They will get their training in real life war at the front and even, pick up their rifles from the deads in battle fields. The accounts of the KMT and CCP armies were no different. Why such speed? and why the people still go to war, knowing that they were but cannon fodders? The answer, as mentioned was, upon pain of death to the particular soldier or severe punishments to their families and relatives, should they defy the orders to go to war.

Sorry have to burden you with this long account to explain for earlier post which might not have been clear enough.
