In response to media queries on President Hu Jintao's six point proposal to promote the peaceful development of Cross Straits relations, the MFA spokesman said:
"This is a very significant development that Singapore welcomes. President Hu Jintao's six point proposal is a historic opportunity to definitively end Cross Straits tensions. This will be good for the Chinese people on both sides of the Straits and for the region as a whole. Improved Cross Straits relations will enhance stability and prosperity for all of us."
