The PAP, the Police and everyone out there needs to have a good hard look at what the underlying purpose and meaning of putting across the 10 items in question are about. (listed for easy reference)

Cleary the intended party was not Seng Han Tong. Its meant for those that he represents and I am not talking about his electorate. The Press for all intent and purposes does not cover the role of the 4th Estate and we all know it. Clearly an outlet must be found.

I can assure you that the man in the street has no clue who Seng Han Tong is or what he does except that he is a PAP MP (not sure if most people outside the ward knew that until after the attack) and prior to that a journalist. Seng Han Tong does not hold any office of function that has an impact to the Singaporean. Why target Seng Han Tong?

RADM Lui needs to search deep down on why Singaporeans behave in such despicable and outrageous a manner. Clearly not the mark of a civil society that at one time was known worldwide for queuing ( a lost art since). Does our DNA carry a faulty gene, do we drink water that differs significantly from others or is it something that has evolved over 50 years since the time the PAP first took power in 1959.

If you can't figure out what the message is after reading the 10 items, no school in the Ivy league or the bastions of higher learning anywhere in the world can help you. No fellowships, no scholarship grants nor any attachment in any thinktank can help you.

To the Inspector that commented to the Lianhe Zaobao, I believe that there are bucketloads of violent crimes that remains unsolved. Cheating cases that take advantage of the elderly and gullible are aplenty. Sushine is the obvious. Your work is very much cut out for you. You may prefer to work on those.

To socially responsible singaporeans who hold positions of power and influence, if you can't do anything for this country, no one else can

Top 10 things that Seng Han Tong must be thankful for.

10. Please be thankful that you are not beaten to death by four teenagers who accused you of staring.

9. Please be thankful that your assailant is not a suicide bomber and you are blown into pieces.

8. Please be thankful it is not your first time to be attacked, you should have mentally prepared to "close ranks and move on", basically you choose to be a boot-licking minister "with your eyes open".

7. Please be thankful that the Yio Chu Kang residents are not questioning where and how you "invest" the "excess" Town Council sinking funds and they are "thankful" to you for making profits for them for the past years.

6. Please be thankful the media will continue to white wash you until you came out squeaky clean and blame everything on the assailant.

5. Please be thankful that the government have 1 set of law specially erected to protect you so that your 70 year old assailant can go to jail until he dies. Normal civilians, kenna assaulted only justifies a civil suit. Offence of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code is a non-seizeable offence.

4. Please be thankful that you are still alive and not brain-dead, and your organs are not harvested for some rich people.

3. Please be thankful that you still have your job despite your screw-ups and your residents resorted to beat you up and set fire on you.

2. Please be thankful your hospitalization bill is paid by the government and you are not being "mean tested".

And number uno Seng Han Tong should be thankful for is:

1. Please be thankful while you are hospitalized, you are still getting 13,900 per month.

i get the feeling Lui Tuck Yew has instead shot himself in the foot by bringing up this "SHT downright outrageous" thing. The same applies to the Police force.

SInkies can remove them from power but are they ball enough.

The alternative is to have an invasion so the foreign power can remove them since their own citizen dunno how to or too balless for that.

Yes, its was basically a non event. Lui made a song and dance about it and presumably and excuse to ram down controls on the Internet. I was surprised that he raised the 10 items as an issue when it had nothing to do with Seng.

As for the Police Force, I doubt that they can prosecute on anything unless there is a clause for lack of compassion.

The Police Force and practially all arms of the Govt are really slow in the way they respond to incidents and frankly they need to get their act together before stepping on wishy washy stuff.

The country is in a stage where it does not know what the truth is . Are the MPs telling the truth. Are the Netizens telling the truth. Is the Press relaying the picture accurately.

They are in denial mode. Like the Jobs Credit Scheme where everyone that the Press interviewed resounded with joy when first announced and then suddenly its own MPs have doubts with cabinet minister backtracking and watering down claims on its effectiveness.

Whilst i hold to the belief that a one-party state can do immense good for her citizens, i also hold to the belief that such immense power in the hands of one party can do immense evil to her citizens.

It is very easy to choose not to evaluate if there is truth in the differing opinions on their self-professed A-team performance.

It is within the ability of a one-party state to use the police power to silence such differing opinions.

The result is that the ruling party will only hear approved bleatings both in Parliament and cyberspace.

Further perpetuating their rule and dominance, for good or for evil.

I do not know about others. But i know that describes me.

In the political arena, i became an agnostic.

What good will it be if the govt drive dissent off the net? Both the taxi drivers did not use the Internet to vent their frustrations, but if they did, they might get help in 1 form or another. Thus they choose to vent their frustrations out in the physical world.

If there is a clause for lack of compassion I guess the more worried ones will be the elites and the likes of Wee Shu Min.

PAP should be afraid when the Internet had gone silent. That means people had found another way to vent their frustrations.

They will start with sniggers, laughter in their hearts, silent words forming loud speeches within their heads.

And await the next incident.

Whereupon their sniggers will be louder, laughter more vibrant.

But now their hatred is unheard.

Whilst their lips sing the PAP's praises.

Their pockets reap the PAP's favours.

And the PAP thinks all is well.

So it remains until the Explosion.

Dear Scroobal

RADM's views are correct with regards to SHT though poorly expressed and guilty of conflation that "netizens" are guilty of.

The underly commentary on the net that I read was that LKY is a bastard, PAP is a bastard, therefore SHT is a bastard, therefore he deserves to get burned, therefore the old man was provoked, therefore the old man is a hero for all, therefore the PAP should watch their backs, and watch the anger of the people.( ill disguised glee and happiness )

Now all of the above serves as a nice logical cohesive but rather rabid and extreme viewpoint. You are right the PAP might be a righteous prick, tone deaf and ignorant of the ground, but nothing justifies burning SHT or Wee Siew Kim or that mole faced daughter no matter how much of a right arsehole he is. Unfortunately the tone from the Net I get is that the preceding paragraph serves as the normative tone.

We do have an issue with the disconnect between the people and the politicians, between real unhappiness and portrayed propaganda commentary. Unfortunately my view is that half those people crying " burn baby burn" will still vote for the PAP at the end of the day come an election

Sam was right the internet is nothing but a huge magnified kopi tiam and like the kopi tiam uncles of old cursing the pap in colorful language , half of them will end up secretly voting for the PAP.

You go and figure out how many cannot vote. If they can, I see the PAP losing a lot more than 66.6%
