The truth always hurts especially being told of one's weaknesses. This is one of the reasons why I always dread the yearend performance appraisal with my boss and to be told of my weaknesses (besides my strengths). Although I dreaded these sessions, I have come to view these sessions positively as it allows me to work on my weaknesses.

Likewise, if all ordinary netizens in this forum comes out with honest feedback, whether positive or negative, about our public servants then this should be welcome graciously. Trying to live in ignorance or refusing to listen is like tunelling further downwards. lol

I do not know about others. But i know that describes me.

In the political arena, i became an agnostic.

how can you become agnostic when.

1. people are living from hand to mouth and some children cannot go to school because of no money?
2. elders don't go to get medical care because healthcare is expensive and long wait?
3. people are suppressed and punished severely for speaking out?
4. people are overly stressed to the extreme through family breakdown to provide for our $400 billions coffers?
5. people have acquired the wrong values in life, because they have been corned for this provision?
6. widening GINI index?
7. people becoming more indifferent and selfish?
8. social decays brought by gambling and prostitutions?
9. division of a nation brought upon by the massive influx of FTs?

etc.

What good will it be if the govt drive dissent off the net?

PAP should be afraid when the Internet had gone silent.

PAP has never relied on feedback except thru channels that they designate. It does indicate an arrogant attitude.

Any sane would have wondered why singaporeans reacted in such a manner. And to seek an answer.

Dear Scroobal

RADM's views are correct with regards to SHT though poorly expressed and guilty of conflation that "netizens" are guilty of.

Bro, I will be the first to admit that there are psychos and downright outrageous conduct in the net. I was not even surprised that Porn Lui had actually raised this in parliament. The point that I took an exception to is the "10things" that came from SBF.

If you read it, its nothing to do with Seng Han Tong. Most Singaporeans know about the late Ah Meng in the Singapore Zoo than this chap. I then realised he was not talking about the psychos alone. Anyone reading the "10 things" will know it is a direct assault on the authoritarian regime and all its warts from high pay to being beaten by teenagers for staring.

Item 10 was discussed in a thread quite extensively and it has absolutely nothing to do with Seng Han Tong.

I am a political agnostic because i no longer believe in the truth that the solution for all these ills lie in:

(1) the PAP or

(2) the current opposition

Frankiestine, that is a measure of economic inequality, the gap between the rich and the poor

In PM LKY time, he brought about a prosperous and large middle class. To do that he helped the poor to become richer through his economic policies. At the same time, he did not go about bringing the rich to extreme wealth but kept the gap between the two relatively small. This is despite the trickle-down theory which neccessitate prospering the rich first. But because his heart is in the right place, you can see the results of his efforts during his time.

In Singapore today it has increased from PM LKY's time.

If not for the payout packets - gst offsets, etc, etc - the gap would have been larger.

But i am not an economist, so i am just saying what i understand by it.

Which of course, from the experts' point of view - may be wrong.

That does not mean that the netizens support that act. It means that the netizens rally behind the expressions of anger inherent in that act. This difference is substantial and totally escape the understanding of Lui and some other netizens.

Therefore it becomes crucial for the current PAP to understand the feelings of dissatisfaction and find ways to dissolve it.
Very well articulated bro. It seems alot of people did not see the allegory in it. Its highly symbolic.

As I said before, what is so different in the Singaporean DNA that such comments are spilling forth when the guy is a nobody in the political scheme of things.

hmmm....i suspect the true gap between the rich and middle class is never really known....it would cost considerable embarrassment to the establishment for the mere fact that a good number of these rich includes the so call elites gov...

Dear Scroobal

The 10 points raised are so wrong its not even funny anymore. For example yes there are two laws with regards to a physical assault on an individual versus that of an MP , but in SHT's case , its a clear cut GBH etc with no differentiation in the eyes of the law.

I am sorry but I read the 10 points raised as stating bluntly that SHT deserves to be burned because of .................Something I can't agree with as much as I agree that the PAP are a bunch of self righteous pricks.

You go and figure out how many cannot vote. If they can, I see the PAP losing a lot more than 66.6%

If the whole Singapore could vote, the results would also be 66% plus minus.

Don't forget the analogy that 1 man can finishing running 1 round in 10 minutes doesn't mean 10 men who run 1 round can finish it in 1 minute.

The country is in a stage where it does not know what the truth is . Are the MPs telling the truth. Are the Netizens telling the truth. Is the Press relaying the picture accurately.

They are in denial mode. Like the Jobs Credit Scheme where everyone that the Press interviewed resounded with joy when first announced and then suddenly its own MPs have doubts with cabinet minister backtracking and watering down claims on its effectiveness.

The state media overdo its efforts to please its master apparently...

None of the 10 items mentioned about SHT deserves to be burnt. Please read carefully and word-by-word. There will be bad things that will happen in anyone's life, the 10 reasons is for SHT to be thankful as he is well-privileged above the ordinary peasants in Singapore. Also it serves as jab to the govt on how their arrogant self-serving antics.

The elites and the MPs took the message so wrongly neglecting the underlying meanings, perhaps you are one of them too? Do you have problem with your English or your comprehension?

I took it the other way as nothing relates to the actual event. To me its animal farm and I don 't think the pigs are evil or selfish by nature even though they were depicted as such.
