The COI findings are out. It slammed SMRT and reported that the Dec 15, Dec 17 incidents were preventable and were a result of SMRT's negligence.

SMRT was efficient, effective, spick and span before the negligent CEO took over. She made profits her main onjective and neglected other issues. The result - overcrowded trains, overcrowded platforms, congestion, commuters were miserable, trains were unreliable...until 15 Dec big incident. Fortunately the COI exposed much mismanagement within SMRT ...hopefully SMRT can prevent a bigger catastrophe.

SG was efficient, effective, spick and span before the negligent LHL took over. He made GDP growth as his main objective and neglected other issues. The result - SG overcrowded SG, overcrowded hospitals, road congestion, Singaporeans are miserable, crimes proliferated and law and order were breached...corruption erupted...Unfortunately, we dont have a COI to expose mismanagement in SG. Can the Parliamentary MPs help? If so, hopefully we can prevent the crumble of Singapore.

So what are the lessons the PAP take away from the SMRT debacle?

u make sure dat u cannot be sacked! ...

LOL...good one. SPH also thot that she cant be sacked and insisted that she will not resign. Look what happened! whether LHL will be sacked is up to the people. That's Westminster's way

This is what Saw Phiak Hwa responded to the findings: " I HAVE NO COMMENT".

I am surprised there was no rebuttal. Does it mean admission to the findings?

Actually the real fault doesn't lie with Saw PH. She was merely taking orders from the one who appointed her who is also responsible for setting this direction for SMRT to focus on the retail rental business instead of core rail operations. And yet the COI did not even raise a whimper against her despite farking up everyone else involved. In fact there was not even a mention of her role or name. Brothers here will know who I am referring to.

I partly agree with you. The Govt and TH are partly at fault for choosing SPH and allowing her to do what she did. But SPH cant be absolve from fault. She was the CEO and she stteeredMRT. She might have the Govt, TH and SMRT Board's approval for what she did. But what shd did, eg maintenance neglect, was wrong. She cant escape the major responsibility of what happened at SMRT

rotten to the core in many areas in SG?

Mismanagement? money corruption? sexual corruption at the highest level? crimes? social problems? Cronyism, placing unworthy leaders causing huge losses and poor returns at GLCs and TLCs?

The COI exposed SMRT's negligence and problems.

Do we need another COI to help expose SG's other problems?

Crumbling of SG?

The Committee confirmed what came out in the press and from the preliminary assessment by LTA. I am waiting for what LTA if going to do in terms of punishment. Aren't they gpimg to fine or penalise SMRT with a huge fine and the Board then sues the silly woman for the recovery of the bonuses over the years.

Or did we forget that COI amd similar inquirying bodies was held also to determine culpability. The Japnese contractor for circle line was fined. People were named. NKF board was pursued by civil litigation.

Good points. But punishing SMRT does not hurt the true culprits. Who gets to suffer a multi million dollar fine? If SMRT does not make profit, will the pap approval its request for subsidy?

We shd go to the source of the neglect...SPH and her cronies...she got $million dollar salary but was negligent in her duties and her responsibilities!

So, what are we going to do if we know what we should do but we choose to run away instead ?

Re: The Great Merry Go Round Of Sinkiesland

The COI is just a wayang ,a stopgap measure ,to pacify the sinkees. They know that sinkees have brainwashed head and short memory. Why no proposal to ask the CEO to return her overpaid and undeserved salaries and bonuses ?

Well said........... exactly my feelings!!

NO COI for LHL but boot him out the next GE............. he is unrepentent with re hiring of dead woods like Wong KS, Mah BT. etc Datz the game PAP is playing If these fucktards are that good the world would be lining up to hire them like it happened to Goh Keng Swee

I love SG and I choose to stay and vote against the pap. For those who have decided to leave, I wish them the best. I blame the pap for SG's sons and daughters who choose to leave because they have foresight and know that PAP's bad policies are killing SG. I feel sad for Singaporeans who lose their children to other countries

How abt you? do u choose to stay or do you choose to migrate?

The COI recommendations are damning to SMRT and SPH. I am not sure whether it is part of the COI's TOR to apportion blame. But let's see how LTK respond to the COI's findings and recommendations.

I am sure there will be some punitive measures
