Sinkie driver... blind, stupid or both?

Tat is where all the problems start. And u think it's a good thing? U are a bigger clown than I thought

The system works fine in NZ. It has saved me $30,000 in the last 20 years.

The problem with sinkies is that they complain like hell about their nanny state but at the same time want the government to control everything including insurance matters.

I'm not pro or anti insurance. However I am against government interference in my life.

Even if my car was a total write off after an accident with an uninsured driver I would still have saved $$$.

There is no universal law that states all road users need to have insurance. In NZ insuring your vehicle is optional. The same applies in many other countries.

In the USA there are states that do not require insurance.
hey, do you mean no requirement for insurance as in no insurance at all or no comprehensive and collision insurance. What about liability insurance. You drive into someone, they sue you for damages?

No insurance required at all. If they sue me I need a lawyer but at the end of the day it's about weighing risk vs reward.

That's awesome! Looks like the insurance mafia are not active in NZ.

In this day and age people want life to be entirely risk free but that is no how the world works.

Risk mitigation has reached the point of ridiculousness with insurance costs coupled with health and safety regulations pretty much killing off many organised recreational activities that used to part and parcel of a well rounded life.

Agreed. But I would go further and say that it has gone to the point of strangling legitimate professions and businesses which are risk-inherent in nature. For eg, healthcare in the US. It is an insidious fear tax.

I propose that those who causes accidents without injuries gets a 5-year-ban from driving all classes of vehicle, coupled with mandatory safety lessons and the whole gamut of circuit and driving test.
Those who causes accidents with injuries/death be banned from driving all classes of vehicle for LIFE.
Road hogger be jailed for 12 months for them plus 12 strokes of the cane to get then to wake the fuck up, especially those on lane 1. It’s for overtaking!
