Two years ago, we estimated that 44% of Singapore’s workforce are non-citizens.
Well, we were wrong.
The actual figure is 45.4%, a little higher than our estimate!
Published in today’s Business Times are the numbers for the breakdown of our labour force as at June 2010:
foreign-labour.jpg

There were 1,712,600 Singaporeans (“citizens”), 334,700 permanent residents (“PRs”) and 1,088,600 foreigners in the labour force as at June 2010.
If we group PRs together with foreigners — rightfully so because PRs aren’t citizens if you ask me — there are a total of 1,423,300 non-citizens among the total workforce of 3,135,900 workers.
1423300 / 3135900 = 45.39%
So, non-citizen foreigners make up 45.4% of Singapore’s workforce.

this is something enlightening :eek::eek::eek:

1. What % are in jobs that Singaporeans do not want?

2. If a worker is employed and posted overseas, is it considered a job created in Singapore.

3. If a foreigner is given Singapore PR, but working overseas, are they considered "in the labor force"?

GaN Kim Yong is a clown...he must be sacked!

PAP do not believe in sacking, they call it "job rotation". The problematic minister will transfer the problems from one ministry to another, it is no wonder Singapore look messy.

I guess cheaper labor is good for business? This makes the economy more competitive in the long-run.

make it 60% in 5 years, and 70% in 10 years.

Let see how sinkies will respond. Amen.

Gan Kim Yong is another jia liao bee minister. In any case, which minister is useful in Singapore?:(

The guy on the photo is Steven Lee, also the boss of GMT (Great Malaya Textile) garment factory in Tanglin Halt. Many of the residents were once working in his factory.
