SINGAPORE: A chain collision involving four cars and a motorcycle along the East Coast Parkway (ECP) caused a massive jam along the expressway on Friday evening (Nov 30) during peak hour.
The accident happened after the Still Road South exit of the ECP towards Changi Airport.

A 20-year-old man who was looking to buy contraband cigarettes while in a car was instead stopped by a group of Customs officers on a raid in an industrial estate, a court heard.
Worried as he had some contraband cigarettes on him, Muhammad Irfan Rukaimi accelerated his car forward and crashed into a Customs officer who tried to jump out of the way. The officer’s left kneecap broke due to the impact.

Seven women, aged between 21 and 31, were arrested in a police enforcement operation on massage parlours and public entertainment outlets conducted along Dunlop Street and Beach Road.
During the two-day operation, which took place on Wednesday (28 November) and Thursday, three unlicensed massage establishments were detected, said the police in a news release. A 31-year-old woman was arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter during these checks.
Separately, checks on public entertainment outlets found that two venues had contravened their licensing conditions. The other six women were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act during these checks.

SINGAPORE - A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving a car and another motorcycle on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Saturday (Dec 1).
The police were alerted to the accident, which took place on the BKE towards Woodlands Checkpoint, after the Woodlands Avenue 3 exit, at 1.45pm.

SINGAPORE: A total of 265 new cases of HIV infection were reported among Singapore citizens and permanent residents in the first 10 months of this year, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Saturday (Dec 1).
Of these, MOH analysed 156 cases between January and June, and found that 90 per cent of those infected were male.

Nearly half (46 per cent) were between the ages of 40 and 59, while 40 per cent were aged between 20 and 39.
About 53 per cent had last-stage HIV infection when they were diagnosed, said MOH, which is an increase from the 42 per cent for the same period last year.

SINGAPORE - There were 265 newly diagnosed cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections reported among Singapore residents from January to October this year, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 1).
This is down from the 361 cases that were reported in the same period last year.
Of the new cases this year, MOH analysed 156 which were reported in the first half of 2018, all of which were exposed through sexual intercourse.

SINGAPORE - Officers from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) discovered more than 1,000 cartons and 400 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes in two separate incidents on Thursday (Nov 29).
At around 5.45pm, officers at Woodlands Checkpoint saw anomalies in scanned images of a Malaysia-registered lorry, which was not supposed to be carrying any goods.
They discovered 961 cartons and 117 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden in the roof panels of the lorry, which was entering Singapore at the time.

SINGAPORE: A 16-year-old has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty, the police said on Saturday (Dec 1).
At about 7.30pm on Thursday, the authorities received a report that a woman had been molested in a lift at an HDB block along Potong Pasir Avenue 1.
