I really wish that that thread can provide accurate information and statistics and give a feel of the ground problems faced by Singaporeans. But I see some detractors who want to indulge in senseless arguments and I chose not to fall into their scheme and decided to just ignore them

But Singaporeans need to support and encourage all Opposition candidates who are willing to step forward to speak up and fight for Singaporeans

Yes. Solo fight one to oppo newbie to pap oldbie and almost won. YSL got big victory in Hougang but because Desmond Choo is an idiot newbie and Hougang is WP territory for 20 years already. Lina Chiam is not bad also in Potong Pasir with also a narrow miss but SPP lost incumbent and seat. So Yee Jen Jong is the star SMC candidate. I live in Joo Chiat. I met him. He live in Joo Chiat also.

I second HedgeTrader's nomination for Yee JL as Best SMC candidate. While it's true that Mrs Chiam lost most narrowly, but in terms of performance, political acumen, real substance, passion and self belief, Yee was indeed the best. Mrs Chiam narrowest loss was mainly due to Mr Chiam's legacy rather than her ability. You can tell that even for her maiden speech in Parliament, she was just reading off what was written for her. As for YSL's victory in Hougang, it's not that he's no good, but the reality is that it was also due in part to LTK's legacy and prior years of hard work by YSL years before this GE. But for Yee to do so well in just a short time in a constituency not held previously by WP, it's indeed a feat. Best of all, many Joo Chiat residents will tell u that Yee is a real gentleman, he fights his election on issues and not on personalities, a ready listener, many of them endeared to him very quickly. He has taken on the a very specialised role of voicing the SME's problems and concerns in Parliament, which had been a void till now.

Thinking about Clone's suggestion for Vincent W most eloquent award, I think we should also have the Most Despicable Act Award. And this should be for Vivian Balakrishnan who subtly suggests to voters that Vincent W is gay. And then pretend not to pursue the matter after some disquiet was caused, for he knew that the damage to Vincent W's standing had already been done. It was a calculated cunning move, a below-the-belt tactic. Truly despicable.

Not a fair comparison. Lily Neo is classy is her own way and its also how she carries herself. Of course in terms of looks alone there are prettier flowers like NS, Angela Oon and Glenda. Then again the younger ones don't have the level of finesse and elegance. LN has a radiance that sends my hormones raging at times.

Awards shouldn't be given just because someone is pro PAP. For a derisory award, it should be given to someone who contorts and abuses logic for the sake of argument to the point where everything he says is full of bullshit.

For that I nominate myo539 and Goh Meng Seng (one politician, one non-politician). Maybe you can call it the cyber warrior award or something more derisory.

Probably the halo effect conferred for having been a medical practitioner. Smart and emphatic. Take away the doctor label, she would stand out as a "tai tai" among the parliamentarians. Who could forget the "hairdo" comment?

If you are like me who is constantly talking about Freedom, Equality, Individual Rights, etc. then you will pick CSJ. The educated folks with conscience will want to be seen with him. On the hand, if you are a Teochew speaking folk, you may choose LTK. CST ? Strange ... what kind of category ? The 1970s black and white tv watchers ?

LKY ? Like Marcos or Suharto, sure got authoritarian supporters lah. Not me, definitely.
