Countries fight over resources, be it human labour, monetary wealth or natural resources. Capturing territory is part of achieving that the objective. Singapore has lots of monetary wealth, developed infrastructure and an educated workforce. It's an ideal state to take over by larger, poorer and more barbaric neighbours if we are weak.
