Glad to attend the 2nd G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting (FMCBG) this afternoon.
We met in extraordinary times! We agreed on the need to coordinate our fiscal and monetary policies to preserve global financial stability.
But beyond the immediate crisis, we also discussed the importance of longer term issues like strengthening our global pandemic preparedness and response, and tackling climate change.
The road ahead remains long and uncertain. However, I believe that with Indonesia's leadership of the G20, we will strengthen multilateralism and #recovertogetherrecoverstronger

Lawrence congratulates Indonesia.

I warmly congratulate Indonesia for the successful conclusion of the 2nd G20 Finance Ministers' and Central Bank Governors' Meeting.
Singapore is honoured to have been invited. It was a good opportunity to meet so many familiar faces (and some new ones) after so long.
We face common challenges, and we need to work together to find common solutions.
We still have much to do. But we remain determined to work together, to #recovertogetherrecoverstronger

Had a good discussion with Brazil's Minister of the Economy Paulo Guedes. Brazil has a highly developed digital finance market and an energy mix that is 85% renewable. Much more that Brazil and Singapore can do together

Productive day of meetings today.
Always useful to have face-to-face meetings with my counterparts, to reaffirm our cooperation and discuss new areas of growth. Such discussions help to bring more opportunities to Singapore and Singaporeans - amongst other things.
Some highlights: met Italian Finance Minister Daniele Franco to reaffirm good relations between our countries, and speak about issues including cross-border investments. Also met US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, to discuss different strategies to manage inflation, and opportunities for economic cooperation. Good chat too with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, on global developments and the importance of the US' continued engagement with our region.
On to #newyork next.

Dialled in to today's MTF press conference early in the morning from the US. From 26 Apr, we will be further easing our SMMs as the Covid-19 situation continues to improve. Most notably, there will no longer be a group size limit.
Mask-wearing will continue to be required indoors - but you may remove your mask at the workplace, in certain circumstances. All workers may return to the workplace; safe distancing will no longer be required; and capacity limits for most larger events will be removed.
This is a big step in our return to normalcy, but do continue exercising personal responsibility. It has been a long two years, and we could not have done this without all of your efforts and contributions. Let’s continue to stay united!

Happy to attend a most productive FATF Ministerial with Raja Kumar. Raja will assume the post of FATF President in July - a first for Singapore!
Also caught up with other leaders - Dr Marcus Pleyer, current FATF president; Chrystia Freeland Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Finance; and Rishi Sunak Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Together with the members of FATF, Singapore will continue to play our part in the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
