A loud crash at a multi-storey carpark caught the attention of a STOMPer, who saw later that two vehicles were damaged as a result of a hit-and-run accident. Subsequently, he saw a man whom he suspected of being the culprit, and says the latter appeared to be drunk as well.

Andy told STOMP:

"On 18/10/2008, at approximately 12.15am in the morning, I was with my friend at Jalan Bukit Merah below a multi storey carpark Blk 134A having a chat.

"That was when we heard a loud collision happening.

"Due to the quietness in the night, the sound of the vehicle moving was really obvious that it was a diesel driven vehicle.

"Upon hearing the collision, we rushed up to check on the situation, as my car was parked there too.

"Once we reached the 4th storey, we noticed 2 cars hit (not really badly), and we heard that the diesel vehicle was still travelling upwards.

"Hence we proceed to check on the situation, and saw a taxi being parked.

"Seriously speaking, I didn't notice the accident, so I'm in no position to decide who's at fault.

"However, I think i should voice out as the taxi driver was dead drunk when he got down.

"He even went over to the front of his vehicle to take off e piece of signal lamp that was hanging(maybe due to the impact of accident. note, i'ts MAYBE), threw it down the MSCP, went over to a corner and pee, and staggered his way down the stairs.

"My friend and myself purposely walked past him, only to realise that he reeked of alcohol so heavily to the point of feeling disgusted.

"I think i should voice out, because it'll be worst if this accident involves a living human. I've since informed the traffic police (as I couldn't find any other possible number to dial), and the police, after taking down the necessary details through the phone, only to advise me to write a note and put over at the windscreen of the affected vehicles(victims) to inform them to lodge a report.

"No police made it to the scene, but I was assured by the police officer on the phone that the IO will look into the matter.

"The owners of the affected vehicles have also since contacted me, and I have also promised to be their witness in any possible statements that are true to my knowledge. hope the TP can respond efficiently on this case.

"Note to drinkers: please do not drink and drive, as it really really doesn't involve you ALONE..."

I believe STOMP has been abused by Singaporeans and more stringent rules for moderation are in order.
