An off-duty military police officer shot dead two armed robbers while holding his child in one arm when the pair tried to hold up a pharmacy, CCTV footage shows.
Sergeant Rafael Souza had walked into the business 40km outside the city of São Paulo, Brazil, with his wife and child to buy medicine when the two men burst in wearing hoods and wielding guns.
One of the men - Jefferson Alves, 24 - then reportedly pointed his weapon at Mr Souza, who drew his pistol and is seen on camera shooting the attacker at close range.

The in-store video shows the officer disappear from the frame while his wife is seen taking cover in an aisle with her hands over her ears.
Mr Souza then appears back in the picture and hands his child over to the mother.
He moves outside the frame again before reportedly shooting the other assailant, identified as Italo Creato, 22.
The action took place in Bifarma in the centre of Campo Limpo Paulista, local news station Radio Acesa reported.
Paramedics later arrived to attend to the pair after the melee at Praça Castelo Branco shopping centre, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Souza, of the 49th Metropolitan Battalion in São Paulo, told investigators he shot at the men because he believed they would have opened fire first after he identified himself as a police officer.

An off-duty police officer was slinging more than just a sidearm when he shot two suspected robbers in a pharmacy in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As a dramatic video of the botched robbery shows, the cop was also carrying his infant son.
Military Police Sergeant Rafael Souza was doing some Saturday shopping with his wife and young son when the two suspects entered the pharmacy. According to local media reports, one of them pointed his gun at the off-duty cop, who then drew his own weapon and opened fire — all while holding his infant son in his left arm.
Surveillance footage shows the moment when Souza unloads into the two men. Apparently, only after killing both does Souza hand his son over to his frantic wife, who is hiding behind a nearby row of shelves. Medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after and pronounced the two suspects dead, local news outlets reported.

This isn’t the first time a Brazilian cop has been involved in a shootout while a holding a child. In 2014, an off-duty officer in Campinas, Sao Paulo, was attacked while holding his three-month-old daughter. The cop was forced to drop the baby, but was able to shoot and later apprehend the criminal. His daughter sustained only minor injuries.

Shocking video has emerged of an off-duty police officer shoot and kill two suspects during a raid on a pharmacy while holding his baby boy under one arm.
Sergeant Rafael Souza entered Bifarma in the centre of Campo Limpo Paulista in Brazil with his wife and their young son to buy medicine on Saturday afternoon when armed gunmen rushed in.
The dramatic scenes were caught on CCTV in the state of São Paulo.
While the clerk was attending to his wife, two burglars with hoods and a gun barged in to rob the premises.
According to reports, one of the suspects, Jefferson Alves, 24, a resident of Campo Limpo, pointed the gun at Sgt Souza, who identified himself as a police officer.
