Can you believe this plate of bee hoon costs $6.30? STOMPer Lucas, who bought the bee hoon from a stall in Singapore General Hospital, thinks it is overpriced.

The management of the hospital needs to look into the prices of food at the stall, he says.

Lucas says in a contribution:

"$6.30 bee hoon in SGH.

"This small foodcourt, located at SGH Block 3, is overcharging for a plate of bee hoon with three sidedishes.

"Should the hospital be looking into this matter?".

Recent business trip to USA: 1 McDonalds McChicken : US$1.00 = 1.30 SGD. Our price? Higher now than USA. Soon American food in USA will be cheaper than Singaporean food. Soon we will pay more than Americans for food for the first time.

I totally agree with you that the price of Food in SGH is very high..And that the Hospital Management should look into this.

But then there again, the vendor will say that there are 2 pirces of Fried Chicken, 1 Suasage, 1 Fried Egg and Bee Hoon.. They can even bresk down the price of individual items and then you will have nothing to urgue about.

That will be their excuse...Perhaps the best solution is NOT TO PATRONISE THEM at all.. I stop eating there whenever I visit a sick relative or friend.

Singaporean adults 'fourth-richest in world'

SINGAPORE - Singaporeans are the fourth-richest in the world and second in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of average personal wealth per adult, according to a report released by the Credit Suisse Research Institute on Friday.

The inaugural Global Wealth Report said the average wealth per adult in Singapore had grown to US$255,488 ($334,714) from about US$105,000 over the last decade.

This was supported by a period of strong domestic economic growth and asset price increases.

The sharp increase in wealth has also been accompanied by a 7-per-cent slide in average debt, bucking the trend of rising household debt among developed countries.

The report said this reflected strong government encouragement for both saving and home ownership in Singapore.

According to the report, Australians are the richest in the Asia-Pacific region, with an average wealth per individual of US$320,909.

Globally, Sweden and Norway are the richest, with average wealth per adult of US$372,692 and US$326,530, respectively.

The study also pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region has 245 billionaires, 15 more than Europe, out of a global total of over 1,000 billionaires. North America has 500 billionaires.

Global wealth held by 4.4 billion adults has increased 72 per cent since 2000 to reach US$195 trillion, it said.

Mr Stefano Natella, Credit Suisse's global head of equity research for investment banking, said: "We estimate that global wealth will grow 61 per cent to US$315 trillion by 2015."

Hey, it seems to me that SGH is the main culprit. They charge Kopi Tiam high rental and Kopi Tiam in turn charge stallholders high rental and the cost get passed down to consumers!!

For consumers, we lan lan right? Either we eat in SGH or we go downhill to eat at Outram area!!

So SGH should wake up its idea!!

True, $6.30 is not a lot of money. But then, the point is, $6.30 for a plate of Bee Hoon at a foodcourt, is a little overpriced.

So $100 is not a lot of money to you too right? So, if you go public toilet to pung sai, you won't mind if they collect $100 from you, since only a small sum and if you cannot afford $100, you should either stangle yourself or eat the sai you pung?

Before you call other losers, please use your brains to think a little first.

If I think its too expensive, I'll just tell them I do not want it
anymore as it is overpriced and walk off. What can the store
owner do? There is nothing to be ashame of when one votes
with the wallet.

No point complaining and asking "management, government etc"
to do something about it. Just don't buy.

It is really strange when stomp is filled with such articles and
yet the stomper pays.
