[Sg] - Persatuan Melayu Kristian, (ie. Malay Christian Association) of Singapore

Yes I am a retard, because I always thought malay is a race. Thank you for educating me, I think you need to tell the government they are wrong.

Ethnic Group - Ethnic group refers to a person's race. The population is classified into the following four categories:

Chinese
This refers to persons of Chinese origin such as Hokkiens,
Teochews, Cantonese, Hakkas, Hainanese, Hockchias,
Foochows, Henghuas, Shanghainese, etc.

Malays
This refers to persons of Malay or Indonesian origin, such
as Javanese, Boyanese, Bugis, etc.

Indians
This refers to persons of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or
Sri Lankan origin such as Tamils, Malayalis, Punjabis,
Bengalis, Singhalese, etc.

Other Ethnic Groups
This comprises all persons other than Chinese, Malays and
Indians. They include Eurasians, Europeans, Arabs, Japanese, etc

Explain Halimah Yacob then.

You want me to explain the farce we went through with that? You of all people should know better, the lengths the pap will go to, to cling onto power, to protect its own interests. Hence, we were all laughing at how ludicrous it all was. Using her to try to substantiate your argument is scrapping the bottom of barrel, you are grabbing at straws, throwing everything and hope something sticks.

You are right. Non muslim Bataks, manado, balinese are not Malay.

But Muslim Javanese, Boyanese, Aceh and Bugis are all Malay.
In indonesua, javanese do not consider themselves as malay.
Philippno do consider themselves as malay although they are christians.
Indonesia have been trying to erase " malay" from their national characteristic. Even the language have been braNded as bahasa indonesia. And Nationalist have executed/ exterminated most of the malay sultanate since 1947 till 1960's. Totally eradicated. But javanese monarchy was retained but with minimal powers.
The indonesia threatened to invade malaysia in 1963 for fear of regions allying to the new nation. So last malay sultanate ( entire family) in kalimantan was eliminated in 1965( maybe) and their bodies dumped into the sea for doing business with sabah. The rest had lost titles and probably rights to properties.

PAP merely copied what indonesia did and apply it to their own malay community.

You sure? I have a Malay friend. No longer practice Islam. But he still stay with the family. Dont generalise.
It's not what one family thinks that matters, it's what the Quran says that matters. Unless you think the Quran doesn't matter.

The quraN cannot taLk or give advice. It's a dead book like any other. Trapped in time. Don't treat quraN like a deity. That is paganism.

The practise predated halimah.
And any Malay when you ask to point out another who has left Islam, will always refer to them as MURTAD instead of Malay.
The conversation goes like this:
A: Eh, dia masih Melayu ke?
B: Tidak lah, dia kan MURTAD.

Murtad simply means apostate and it happens in all religions. So, to say someone who was previously a malay is now a murtad doesn't make sense to anyone else except the muslims. Malay was originally a term used to mean brown people in this region and these brown people were originally not muslims anyway. Later on, in a desperate attempt to ensure no outflow of muslims to other religions they came up with this strange rediculous definition of malay which is nothing but a joke.

at least it's not the whole village

Just like Msia, indon Muslims treat their neighbours like own family. Helping each other and sharing problems. They lived in kampong or village as u called it. So its normal they behaved such. Whereas Sporeans are anti-social. Doors shut 24/7.

Malay was a description the white man used to describe the people they met in the nusantara before they colonised it. Malays were then already Muslims.

MURTAD, like you explain, could carry other meanings and descriptions. One of which is for an ex Malay. A MURTAD.

That's stems from the culture and upbringing of selfishness and greed.
A totally sick way of living.

That's just a term coined by muslims. Just like christians like to call unbelievers Pagans. Nothing to do with race. Race is what we are born as, can't be changed.

To be technical, all races are a social construct.
No person in this world is of a pure race of something. DNA proves that. Everyone is a percentage of mixtures. Language and culture, religion and custom make up the rest of the identity.
So if you're born with German, japanese, African, indian, ancestry, what are you?
You can be any one of those, the defining factor is your habits of language, religion and customs and what you and your community accept you to be.
