SINGAPORE – The ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) introduced four more new candidates in a virtual media conference on Thursday (25 June) morning, bringing the total number of fresh faces unveiled to 12.
Introduced by the party’s first assistant secretary-general Heng Swee Keat, they are former public servant Ng Ling Ling, 48; Tan Kiat How, 43, a former civil servant; Dr Tan See Leng, 55, the former group CEO and MD of IHH Healthcare, second-largest listed hospital group in the world by market capitalisation; and Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, 39, a partner at Dentons Rodyk and Davidson.
In the session streamed from PAP’s headquarters in New Upper Changi Rd, Heng said that the four candidates had much in common as they all came from relatively modest backgrounds, have worked their way up in their respective fields and are successful in what they are doing.
More details to come.
