JOHOR BARU: A disciplinary teacher at a secondary school in Skudai, who had been distributing brochures on sex enhancement drugs in his school, has been transferred out. Johor Education Department director Sufaat Tumin said that the teacher was transferred to another secondary school in Johor Baru recently following reports lodged against him.
“The investigation was completed last month and the report has been sent to the Education Ministry,” he told The Star yesterday. “Further action against the teacher depends on the severity of the offence,” he said. The teacher’s side business came to light after businessman Ng Ching Sea, 58, discovered brochures on sex enhancement drugs among his son’s books about two weeks ago.
It was later discovered that the teacher was responsible for distributing the brochures to the students. Sufaat said the case involving the teacher was an isolated incident. He explained that the state had some 48,000 teachers but only a few had in disciplinary problems. He added that school heads were responsible for monitoring their teachers’ activities.
“It is important for all teachers to adhere to the rules and set a good example for students.” Meanwhile, Ng said he was satisfied with the decisive action taken to deal with the teacher. “Good values should be cultivated by parents at home and teachers in school,” he said. The teacher was said to have been selling sex enhancement products that included drugs, gels and pills.
