Personal relationship was morally wrong, but I'm not corrupt: Peter Lim
Former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Peter Lim admits that his relationship with star witness Angie Pang Chor Mui was "morally wrong" but insists that he is not corrupt.
Speaking confidently on the fourth day of the sex-for-contracts trial at the SubCourt on Monday , the 53-year-old said he did not provide Pang with any tipoffs regarding a potential tender for radiation portal machines (RPMs).
Lim has been charged with one count of obtaining oral sex in 2010 from Pang, then general manager of Nimrod Engineering, an equipment supplier to the SCDF.
Taking the stand for the first time since the trial began last week, Lim admitted contacting Pang on March 18, 2010 but that it was to simply to find out if her company had RPMs and nothing more. He added that other suppliers were approached similarly and that no special privileges were given to Pang, 49.
He said he did not share any information regarding an upcoming SCDF tender the following month as claimed by Pang in her testimony last week.
'Lonely woman'
Earlier in his testimony when he was on the stand for the first time, Lim said his relationship with Pang grew closer around June 2009 and in Feb 2010, she began sending "suggestive text messages" and even told him he wanted to be his girlfriend but that he did not respond to this.
Describing Pang as "kind", "caring" and that "she likes to joke and tease a lot", Lim confirmed the one count of oral sex happened in her car at the Stadium Walk carpark at close to midnight in May.
The suggestive messages were the reason why he did not dismiss her when she asked him to unzip his pants. He added that he was "tipsy" on the night and
knew "that she's a lonely woman who has not had something like this for a while", he told the court.
He said the
session only lasted a short while as he not "fully aroused" during the act.
