Well, the commercial looks good and that its. As usual, our SAF is visually impressive but completely screwy in reality.

An army that has to depend on slick ads says it all about their ability in reality here.

I mean, SAF isn't Apple Inc. Its products are not like iPods.

In times like this, Public Monies should be spend on things like aid for children who cannot afford breakfast/ school books, old people who cannot pay medical bills.......ect2.

I've always thought track record is more important (in this case battle honours ) to impress the audience.
They should ask Dr Melanie Chew nee Ng to write a book on the battlefiled victories of the SAF and use the material for the Social Studies syllabus in schools..

The part that the soldier kicks the door and then remove the safety clip and safety pin, would be dead before he can throw the grenade into the room.

That's why I'd never sign on. I respect those who want it, but I fear that they will, in time, regret it. Younger people who did eventually have or would quit after 6 years. It says it for itself.

some ppl serve for 20 years only to have mindef kick them in the teeth when they reach late 30s

all become taxi driver or cisco supervisor

That's why unless you're desperate, you should really, really consider, consider and consider some more before you make such a big decision. Otherwise you live to regret it. And once you're in your 30s, it gets harder to learn stuff in University.

Signing on the SAF is not like signing on with the US, UK or Oz armed forces.

A timely advert to recruit soldiers (LOCK them in for 10 Years) due to this Recession.

I wonder what is the purpose for the advert? No country ever do this. It's not like foreigner happy and can join up. For local, whether u like it or not, white scum BY LAW force you in.

When going back for training, it was like going back to the 80s and most things still the same. Same old shit!

Logistics was slow and lots of queueing up. Rush to wait, wait to rush. And normally it start the day before dawn and stretch till night for supper. At the end only little task completed.

I got out by year 6, and now embarking on a better paying and more fulfilling career. I still got batch mates who wants to finish their 10 years and get their gratuity which probably amounts to something like 15-17k? As for the ones who got their 2nd contract, they can rot inside and become unproductive for the rest of their natural lives.

My ex-unit got a few WOs, heard they retired at 45 came out don't know what to do...most of them end up in security firms as supervisors....

If the soldiers are half as tough as depicted in the ads, they should be storming parliament like what the terrorists are doing in India!

The army is screwed up because it runs by a screwed up method of recognizing talent and promotion. If promotion is based on real war experience, it'll have better leaders and policies.
