During ICT our unit is deployed to these key installations like Changi Airport, Jurong Island, Exon Mobil, etc to support the regulars, NS there.

Everyone likes to go Airport bcoz got aircon, girls to see. Those taller ones are the lucky ones who get airport. Shorties get the ulu areas. Jurong Island noone wants to go coz its freaking hot.

Just wayang only. Wear sunglass to look tough.

Bet u did not have live ammo, right?

They definitely carry live rounds, special ammo that break up on impact so it doesn't ricochet or penetrate and hit people behind.

There's is definitely some element of wayang though. We asked why we had to insert the empty magazine, since then we had to remove it before we can insert the loaded one, which represents an extra step. The answer was that soldiers could not patrol with an empty weapon. It was a weak compromise between the appearance of readiness and safety :(

haha, by the time you lokk for your live mag, and load it, a well trained terrorist would have shot you. Did you protest to your PC or not?

Oh please, as much as some of these guys in 6SIR are my friends, most of us weren't trained to be SAS soldiers. SAS soldiers from the UK and Australia can be trusted to carry live ammo- because they are trained for many years before they become even a grunt or an platoon commander.

And there's also a real accountability system to ensure professional soldiers follow the rules in the armed forces in these countries. Here, its not exactly the same.

What the shit are u talking about? We have over 30,000 sign on regulars in the SAF. U telling me that after all the years in the SAF, they cannot be trusted with live ammo? We are not talking about NSmen here, we are talking about regulars. They are PROFESSIONAL soldiers, ok? They sure as hell can patrol the airport. I dun know what real accountability u are talking about. In the SAF, u cannot suka suka do anything you want either.

Out of 30,000 so call regulars, only the level of SOF, NDU and pilots are considered professional soldiers. The rest are mainly toy soldiers, only masak here masak there.

Don't forget most of these 30,000 regulars are professional technician in their specialised field and not combat soldiers. There is a BIG difference.

Thanks for pointing that out. There's no doubt a difference between a SAF regular technician and a SAS soldier. One just fixes vehicles, the other is a regular and a very well trained elite soldier at that. Most of our troops can't fight with the fitness level of a SAS soldier, let alone the fighting skills.

During my time in NS, when doing guard duties in camp we had 1 magazine loaded with only 3 live rounds in the rifle, not extra ammunition in SBO. We stilll have to pull the charging handle to load the round into the chamber (lock and load). Even that would also have been too slow a response when fired upon by a enemy.

How about take these clowns to Iraq and see if they can be so "garang" with dark glasses.

To these SAF/SPF personnel, dont act "so-real" in your own country, do it outside your country if you got the balls.

Everybody knows SAF/SPF no balls to show your guts.

PUI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
