Why not ? In NDP, every soldiers' except the GOH were removed for security reasons and not for the reason for lighter carry.

If its true that these NSMen does not carry their bolt in their rifle. Then it sends a very strong statement to the country that they don't even trust the military in a civillian infrastructure for security.

Obviously, someone is very paranoid about security as a whole.

It goes to show how much trust we place on our soldiers' integrity in getting things done.

That's the biggest joke of all, patrolling with an assault rifle and gear and not issue with ammo. One police with a loaded MP5 and two boy scout playing soldiers with an empty gun.

Even in Colombo, every soldier guarding the exterior and within the terminal are armed to the teeth.

Why go thru all these charade of make believe is something I could never understand about MINDEAF.

u know that all these idiots are kids pretending to play soldiers. If you look closely at the pics, you will see some inconsistencies:
- Who the fuck wears a camo out fit in the airport? Its not tactical and it sticks out like a sore thumb. U can wear urban camo or something else. Better to wear plainsclothes actually.
- Who wears a SBO with canteen in an airport terminal? That is so stupid. The canteen and other non essential gear should be replaced by taser, handcuffs, plastic ties, pepper spray etc.
- Where is the body armour and ballistic helmet? some clown with a small calibre .22 will kill them easily.
- Why carry a SAR-21? U will notice that many modern tactical teams use 9mm weapons like the MP5. The reason is that the 9mm round will hit the target and usually stops there. Some idiot firing a 5.56mm weapon in a crowded area like the Airport will see the round enter the target, exit, and hit the person behind.
- Where is the sidearm? No tactical unit will send someone in with just one weapon. A side arm like a 9mm semi auto is also standard SOP.
- Plus. The policeman and the SAF troopers probably are not issued with ammo. Do you think the SAF will issue ten mags of ammo, and the police force will issue several mags 9mm ammo to this idiots patrolling the airport? The chances of accidental discharge will be several times higher than the chances of an actual terrorist attack.

If I can see all these, any professional terrorist operative must be laughing all the way to his superiors in Indonesia.

During ICT our unit is deployed to these key installations like Changi Airport, Jurong Island, Exon Mobil, etc to support the regulars, NS there.

Everyone likes to go Airport bcoz got aircon, girls to see. Those taller ones are the lucky ones who get airport. Shorties get the ulu areas. Jurong Island noone wants to go coz its freaking hot.

They definitely carry live rounds, special ammo that break up on impact so it doesn't ricochet or penetrate and hit people behind.

There's is definitely some element of wayang though. We asked why we had to insert the empty magazine, since then we had to remove it before we can insert the loaded one, which represents an extra step. The answer was that soldiers could not patrol with an empty weapon. It was a weak compromise between the appearance of readiness and safety :(
