I think many of us drs are sick and tired of having to act like well meaning sales people to patients.

Like there is a right or wrong pitch. But then an unhappy customer who wants to buy the wrong thing becomes our responsibility.

What you call "let it rip" is exactly the same as "patient autonomy".

However if something goes wrong because a patient chose badly it is my responsibility as a dr. And i have to write pages and paged of our discussion and conversation to document that i tried very hard to convince them not to choose wrongly but then they ended up choosing wrongly with another dr but now claim that i also recommended it.

Patients should juat be responsible for their. choices. If you want dr opinion sure. But it is bon binding and no responsiblity on the drs part.

I too want to be able to flip prata always say what my customers want to hear and make them happy and satisfied.
