Try Lijiang in Yunnan.. and Shu he , the ancient town about 5 km from this city.
A 2 weeks stay there as a dry run will make you love this quiant town.

Was there. But settle at some distance from the tourist area.
You will love the scenery and weather...Good Luck.

I thought of renting out our Singapore property and moving to stay in China (small city) and live off the rental revenue. Is there any flaw in this plan? Got any singaporeans do that?

bro i never been or live in china before.
the only advice i can tell u is u have to find sgrean who living in china for many years and talk and ask them how is the life there then u can get a better clearer picture and after u get all the infomation u should go to china to seewhich part of china u wanna to retire.
preferbaly your neighbor is sgrean u wont be lonely and when u go holiday there someone to look after your house and same thing if your sgrean goes holiday u look after their house .

i strongly believe china is affordable to retire then in sg.

Which part of China. North East to South west. Yunnan nearest is land lock. Better go Thailand or Malaysia
