The crash occurred at about 21.41h local time, south of the Barry M. Goldwater Range near Sells.
The plane had taken from Luke Air Force Base with two other aircraft on a routine night training flight. About 45 minutes into the flight, communication with the missing aircraft was lost, said the Singapore Defense Ministry.
The Singaporean pilot, which was first reported missing, did not survive the crash.
The pilot Lieutenant Loo Kwang Han, was 25 years old. He joined the RSAF in June 1998, obtained his pilot wings in July 2001 and became an F-16 pilot in January 2003.
The F16 block 52 was assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing, 425th FS 'Black Widows', which undertakes the flight training for the Singapore AF crews at Luke.
Under the Peace Carvin II program, signed in 1993, RSAF Block 52's were based at Luke AFB, for training purposes. This training agreement expired last year but the USAF and RSAF extended this for an additional 15 years, which means RSAF F-16 training at Luke will continue until 2018.
Almost exactly two years ago there was another RSAF F-16 that crashed at the Barry M. Goldwater Training Range. The USAF pilot of that jet, Maj. David Walker, ejected safely.
Rest in peace Lt Loo! Brother in arms! I pray that GOD ALMIGHTY continue to comfort your soul in the High Heavens. I await the day I see in Heaven.

Maj. David Walker was airlifted from the crash scene on the Tohono O'odham Nation reservation to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and was reported to be in good condition. Walker was enroute to Luke late Wednesday.
Air Force officials said the F-16 crashed in late afternoon while practicing basic fighter maneuvers in the Sells, Arizona military operating area. There were no live bombs aboard the aircraft.
This is the 11th crash of an F-16 fighter from the suburban Glendale, Ariz., base since October 1998, with the last occurring July 23, 2001. No one has been seriously injured.
The base is the largest training facility in the world for F-16 fighters, flying an estimated 175 sorties a day. There are about 200 F-16's stationed at the base.

May 19, 2004 is a day we will remember for the rest of our lives. On that fateful night, the aircraft that LTA Brandon “CHIP” Loo was flying crashed into the Arizona desert, about 90 Nm south of Luke. On that fateful night, all our lives changed, in the blink of an eye, in a turn to the notch, in a descent to the ground. On that fateful night, the Black Widows, the Air Force and indeed, an entire nation lost a brother, a friend and a comrade.
Chip was the quintessential fighter pilot – reliable, aggressive, yet cool and precise, both in the air and on the ground.
He handled his flying exceptionally well and was scheduled to get his CAT A while on tour here, uncommon for pilots who come as CAT Ds.
On the ground, he carried out his duties diligently, and was an excellent mentor to the more junior pilots such as myself. Chip was always ready to help, whenever he could, and always with an infectious smile.
Outside of work, it was no different. If anyone knew how to have a good time, Chip did. He played a mean game of football and was always up for a party, a cuppa, a movie or a game of mahjong on the weekends.
Chip was very much an essential part of all our lives, and the incident impacted us tremendously. But I’m sure, in true Chip fashion, that he’d want us to move on, to learn from this incident – for there isn’t a single one among us who’d hesitate one moment to strap ourselves onto the back of the armoured angel and soar once again into the heavens, to dance among the clouds, to sweep the skies with fire and steel.
Chip, I’m sure you’re in a better place now, where you fly BFM all day and never run out of gas, and then at dusk, you grease a landing and swagger into the bar for a cold beer. I’d like to dedicate this to you – friend, colleague, fighter pilot; and leave you with a poem:
We toast our hearty comrades who have fallen from the skies,
And were gently caught by God’s own hand to be with him on high.
To dwell among the soaring clouds they’ve known so well before,
From victory roll to tail-chase, at heaven’s very door.
As we fly among them there, we’re sure to heed their plea;
To take care my friend, watch your six, and do one more roll for me.

One thread you espouse tolerance and applauding a singer as a peacemaker, and then open threads about careers in the military. Then about getting cruise missiles and attack helicopters before asking God to blessed members and the Boss. IMH personnel must be out looking for a nutcase that escaped from their padded cell.

I'm not military fan, but looking at the SAF from a career perspective, it isn't bad at all. Personally, I wouldn't like to subject myself to a regimentally disciplined way of life, but if one likes it, then the SAF offers great opportunity for an exciting career for growth and options at a chance for tinkling with fantastic technology (or has some people see, expensive toys). For the air force, RSAF is moving in the right direction and equipped with the latest tech that money can buy. It has come a long way since the start with British made Strikemaster and Hunter jets and now moving to F-15s and looking at F-35s. For young blokes who wish an adventurous career, I think the RSAF will be a great choice. Best part is, Singapore has good relations with other countries and the chance for war is low. Limpei wore glasses since secondary school already, otherwise would have tried for a shot at being a pilot.
