I hope someone direct this to their directors and it comes from me.

Recently, after careful thinking for my overseas plans, I decided to go and take the diploma in electrical engineering offered by NYP on a part time basis. I reckon that this diploma will give me a better shot in employment opportunity and also better chances for permanent residency. But holy fish, I got a shock when I called the customer service hotline.

CS: Hello, NYP admission

Raiders: When will the next part time diploma in electrical engineering be open for application?

CS: Till further notice, I have no idea. You just check the website everyday

Raiders: Huh? (Smlj in my mind)

CS: Anyway, the intake for the course is only 25 person and the lecturer has to select the best 25.

I was thinking, ok, fair enough. Strict selection ensures good quality education and certificates. I have 6 points for O levels, should not be difficult.

That night, as I related this to my PRC GF, my blood started to boil.

PRC GF: You sure or not? My factory so many of them(PRCs, Indians) taking this course. You sure only 25 pax per course? Alot of my colleagues went for this course. Sure got more than 25 and very easy to apply.

Raiders: Fucking hell, you think lim bei bluff you ah?

PRC GF: No lah, Lao gong, don't angry lah.....

Raiders: Ngee Ann Poly right?

PRC GF: Confirmed!

Raiders: Diploma in Engineering(electrical) right?

PRC GF: Double Confirmed!

Raiders: Na bay eh, what the fuck is wrong with this country.

PRC GF: Lao gong.....

you have 6 pts for O levels?

Why don't you take SAT I & II and go for a proper uni course?

I'm sure 99% of forummers don't have your O level grades. That includes me.

Yup, 6 points and did not go to university. I went to JC and got DDDE for all 4 papers :o

I don't really like the way JC taught us. It's mugging and more mugging. That's why I have never tried to go to any university after that. I can tell you that I skipped my lectures almost everyday and during tutorials, I was always thinking of fucking my tutor :o

Bro Raiders,

If your objective is to get a shot in employment opportunity AND a better chance for PR say in Australia, blur sotong can share some input with you. :p

Going to the poly may lead you to advance standing in an Oz uni program. However such route may not land you your ultimate objective of getting a PR in say Australia. Oz rules have changed in recent years. Oz uni grads are not auto given a change to take up PR. Most have to leave the country upon completion of their study. :o

For a start, you may want to check this out: http://www.decinternational.nsw.edu.au/contacts. I am suggesting this may be a better program to begin with. More on-the-job-raining and eventual employment opportunity. :)

BTW, TAFE is somewhere between VI and Poly. They do offer undergraduate programs too. ;)

PM me if you are interested and we can set up conversation in the chatroom. Don't want to hijack your zhou guang and angry NYP or NP conversation thread. :D

All the best to you ...

6 pointer O levels you go squandered away....
Poly part time used to be many people taking 5 year part time night classes....too long IMHO to get a technical diploma

No point regretting over spilled milk. This diploma I'm talking about is only 2.5 years.
