If your bank account is so loaded to see you see thru' the rest of your life, you have nothing to worry except you are choosy the food you take, the attire you wear.....you are in control of yourself. If you are a rich politicain, You view every festive celebration an opportunity to go native with the people---stupid or smart ones!
Wealthy people will not understand how poor people feel unless those who work very smart from gutter to rich.
Most rich will not help the poor to get rich , the secret of getting rich is always a secret.
Singapore is a good example.
Its education is at its worst---jobs culture, and practise confucius teaching--only the best educated can lead or become ministers. They get rich easy way out becos they have score As all the way.
Those cleaners must deserve low pay becos they are not educated regardless whether singapore is first world and expensive country with expensive housing.
If you look at the PAP ministers salaries, they are millionaires in the making at the expense of the taxpayers coffers.
That is OK if the system can galvanise these people to teach peasants getting fairly rich.
But them come a disaster, local peasants choose jobs to earn their keep is damned by FT workers---you dont work cheap, we get FT workers to slog for cheap labor, so what, you can eat grass.
The ministers need not talk for the peasants and have nothing to worry except trying to make a few people happy.
Besides, at leisure, they focus on celebrations, functions, heartland events, cut ribbons.......
Perhaps, singapore is too rich, but too far to reach the common peasants who are hungry to learn to how to get rich.
Comcare and handouts and GST and economy shares and coupons will not solve poverty and will not help the middle class to lead a better lifestyle.
If you read the pledge , you may realise that they are reminding you of your race, and telling you to unite to agree that prosperity is for the nation. You may ask ---for the nation for who ?
