Qualitative Assessment prior to poll - PAP, WP, NSP, SPP, RP & SDP

The analogy is also inappropriate. Although TJS started in PMO of GCT, he does not exhibit "义" a hallmark of Liu Bei.

TJS will never get it. The former RP now NSP gang did the same.

Did you see LTK or Sylvia Lim hanging around opposition party activities, going from party to party speaking at their forums, then just before 2006 or 2011 finally join one and make a gong-banging media-headlining announcement, only to lose much chance and time making progress in chartering the party.

Such antics just makes you feel "shiok", and in the 4 years before each GE you feel like some important always-getting-invited VIP.

But a lot of consistency is required to succeed and success is out of league from these people.

that's why i said my analogy was made purely tongue in cheek :p:p:p

Dear Per

Many candidates are often more in love with themselves then a party or a believe a fatal attraction or combination.

a. I deserve to b n MP because of my "pedigree" education, degree, brains

b. I deserve to be an MP because of the long years of work I have put in.

C. I deserve to b an mp because of my name and pedigree.

TJS and PJ represent the worst of a and c

Yeah. The term "shiok sendiri" comes to mind.

Aware of TJS' activities before he finally set foot in SDP. I was shocked when someone once used the term "parachute" to describe him. Mind you, this is not an SDP hater or detractor.

I hope TJS got TCB's approval and permission to quote that the latter had given him a personal private endorsement in the GE. This certainly speaks very well of the former GCT right-hand man. Get encouragement for your GE campaign and then turn around become a spoiler for the very same person in the PE.

To be fair also to the RP turned NSP gang, they are new to politics (relatively speaking) and should be given a chance to settle down and decide whether they are in the correct vehicle before making final commitment.

Their former leader on the other hand, the one who took them in, is supposed to be wiser after more than a decade in thick of things, but is instead acting even more juvenile politically (or perhaps you may say literally).

Then how come a person like CSJ who has spent two decades in politics and still failed miserably? He is consistent enough, diligent and has plenty of perseverance. This man has spent time in prison, endured numerous insults & humiliations and suffered too much setback in life and yet he has not given up. Will he be successful one day if he were to continue the way he is?

Why not? I consider SDP a relative success by that measure. Chiam, Desmond Lim and Kenneth Jeyaretnam did not go his kamikaze way, yet SDP has bigger numbers than SPP, SDA and RP.

He is already very successful by his KPI.

You can take just two - Tony and Hazel, and see the problems arising from the lack of acumen.

First, they were overexposed to the media. By the time they left RP and joined NSP, they were covered on ST at least 3 times. Media did not show interest in them during 9 days. We can refer how WP hid CSM and Yee JJ and how much news was made.

Second, it's not everyday that people choose to pull a mass resignation just a few months before GE. The scholars joined in 2009 and did not need 2 years to find out about KJ.

Third, they played a fool on the Moulmein Kallang episode, which added to delay in walking ground.

Even their flyers went to the wrong ward in Sembawang.

Why do you think the pathetic results for two scholars and a touted team. The team ranked 12th worst in results among 26 constituencies despite scholars and NSP chief (not the SG). Plus good composition of races and gender.

It's meaningless about qualitative. It's such a subjective measure. The measure in politics is quantitative. Quantitative qualifies the qualitative. That's majority will, that's democracy. How many MPs you have in Parliament? If that doesn't matter, then even election doesn't matter. Keep on releasing press releases and making noises but losiing election and claiming to be true opposition?

Because he did not work on grassroots bonding. Only hit on national / HR issues most of the time.

I won't put too much blame on the scholar couple and their associates including Nicole Seah. They are new to the game, and collectively bought into the hype about KJ being the "messiah", son of the great JBJ, well educated, former hedge fund manager, outstanding credentials, technocrat, and a tons of superlatives that even the MSM was dishing out.

When you have built up that kind of expectation, you naturally try to make things work even though you know something is rotting and even the most staunch keyboard cyber warrior hesistates to say a pipsqueak about the "messiah" for fear of being flamed by a thousand grass growers. The NSP folks really tried to endure all the way to the bitter end, but the end pt was reached just before GE came around. Whether good or bad timing, up to you to decide.

M-K was GMS's doing. Obviously in politics you can't have your way every time. He could not control himself and blew it out of proportion, a sign of mental weakness I would say. Being 10 years in the fray, working literally shoulder to shoulder with Sec gens, chairperson, volunteers on the ground, one would think he had developed some measure of self control as well as ability to anticipate such outcomes and be mentally prepared. Very disappointed he turned M-K into political theatre when he obviously knew he was not going to get the cake from the start. Waste of time, energy, and goodwill.
