Pyschoanalysis of the spammer

Psychoanalysis about the forum owner and moderators.

I’ve watched this forum go downhill from its Delphi glory days, and it’s frustrating to see. This used to be the place to be, where political discussions were thoughtful, the community was strong, and moderation kept the noise out. Even public users without accounts could read insightful exchanges.

Now? The front page is often flooded with rubbish from one deranged spammer, and it feels like nobody in charge cares anymore. Why is it that the moderators seem to think “ignoring” is a solution?

Ignoring doesn’t stop spam. It might be out of sight for logged-in users, but it doesn’t clean up the mess. For anyone who’s not registered, it just leaves the garbage on full display, ruining the experience.

Blocking spammers outright should be the bare minimum for forum maintenance—not some optional feature.

This neglect is more than just a nuisance; it’s eroding what made Sammyboy great. People who came here for quality discussions are either leaving or disengaging. I know several regulars who’ve quietly disappeared, and honestly, I can’t blame them.

What does everyone else think? Am I the only one frustrated by this?

There was never any moderation so if there have been any changes to the flavor of the content it has nothing to do with the way the forum has been managed because I have always allowed the flow to find its own course.

It was started, not as a political forum but simply for non sexual issues to be discussed because I did not want them in my main forum... ie the one that pays the bills.

The forum is a reflection of Singapore society as a whole and it has evolved accordingly.

Psychoanalysis of someone who feeds the spammer troll.... you're a dumbfuck. Just put her on your ignore list. If everyone did that she'd be gone by lunchtime.
Even people doesn't do that, she will be gone by every lunchtime as prostitutes always will sleep around lunchtime time and wakeup just in time to have dinner before serving their first customer.

Is good for most forummer to put her in ignore list so that they can read all the analysis properly by other members.
She thought that by spamming this site, those information will be lost.

Thanks for your response, but let’s be honest. This forum has passed the point of no return.

Even if you want to recapture the old glory days, it is no longer feasible. The community that once made this place special has moved on, and the environment has shifted too far to recover.

Your hands-off approach might have worked in the past when the forum’s user base was more self-regulating and the content naturally balanced itself out. But times have changed. Without any moderation, the flood of spam and low-effort posts has overwhelmed the space. Whatever organic “flow” you are hoping for is not flowing anywhere. It is stagnant, like a septic tank.

The forum was indeed a reflection of Singapore’s society during its prime. It was structured, thriving, and uniquely adaptive. But much like Singapore now, struggling with its identity amidst a flood of third-world refugees and overpopulation, the forum has been overrun by elements that have destabilised its foundation. What was once a space for free expression has become chaotic and unrecognisable.

I understand Sammyboy's Alfresco Coffeeshop was not originally intended to be a political forum. At its peak, though, it became the unofficial safe haven for intelligent, meaningful discussions. It was a place where people could freely express their thoughts without fear of censorship or prosecution. That is why people kept coming back.

But that era is long gone. The internet has evolved, and the freedom that once attracted high-quality contributors are now being exploited by the deranged, spammers and low-effort posters. Freedom was once an asset has turned into a liability, allowing the very elements eroding the forum’s quality to run unchecked.

Agree , now there's humour here but marred by the spammers crap.

I fully agree with you but since I have no vested interest in the success of this forum I have simply allowed things to run their course. The members collectively made it the shit hole that it is now. I have never earned a cent from this place. In fact it has cost me a lot of money. If it wasn't for the other forum subsidising its existence I would have closed it down a long time ago.

There are many alternatives nowadays. During Delphi days there were none. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit etc simply did not exist. I was the pioneer of SG on line forums but sex is what brings in the bacon so of course I have concentrated on keeping the sex forum going against the odds while this one has always been the site I send people to when they start blabbering about non sex related stuff over at sammyboyforum.com

Of course it goes without saying that the internet has changed radically the biggest difference is that deranged people now have internet access. In the good old days the internet was used only used by the elites, the intellectuals and the pseudo intellectuals.

I'll keep things going as it still brings in a reasonable amount of traffic and I use it to myself to bookmark videos and sites that I may wish to refer to later on. When it no longer serves any purpose I'll pull the plug and direct the traffic somewhere else.

I get your point, and I don’t entirely disagree. You’ve been upfront about having no vested interest in the forum’s success, and it’s clear that the current state reflects that. The members, in their collective disregard have shaped it into what it is now.

You’ve also been transparent about the financial side of things, and I understand prioritizing the more profitable ventures, especially when they subsidize the existence of this place. But even if you’ve moved on, this forum was once a space for valuable, free-spirited discussions. It’s hard to watch it deteriorate into nothing, even if the internet has drastically changed.

I agree with you that alternatives like Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit dominate now, but they don’t offer the same organic exchange that this forum once did. Yes, times have changed, but that doesn’t mean this space couldn’t have a second chance, even if only for a small group of those who remember its purpose.

At the end of the day, it’s your forum, and if you’ve decided it’s run its course, I get it. But it’s still a little sad to see it end like this, given what it once was. :)

What would you like me to do? I can ban Ginfreely if you think it will help. Let's put it to a vote... :D

It’s encouraging to hear that banning the spammer is even being considered because, as it stands, this place has stopped functioning as a forum altogether. It’s become a personal dumping ground for incoherent tirades and meaningless threads from one mentally unstable individual. Her posts drown out any chance of actual discussion, and worse, many others get baited into engaging in her spiral of spam hell. Why she’s been tolerated for so long is beyond me, but her behavior is clearly derailing the entire space.

In the spirit of your commitment to free speech, perhaps outright banning doesn’t align with your approach. However, there are a few steps that could help clean things up and restore some sense of normalcy:

1. Archive All Her Posts into a Single Thread: Since her posts are all essentially spam, consolidating them into one thread would declutter the forum and give it some breathing room for legitimate discussions to re-emerge.

2. Restrict or Review Thread Creation Privileges: Limit her ability to start new threads, or implement a system where new threads require moderator approval before being published.

Tolerating this kind of behavior makes no sense. It’s not about stifling freedom of speech, it’s about preserving the forum as a functional space. Allowing one person to treat this forum as her personal dumping ground is unfair to everyone else who wants to engage meaningfully.

If nothing changes, the forum will remain what it currently is: not a forum at all, but a chaotic mess dominated by one person’s rants. It’s time to address the root cause and take decisive action.

Even if the forum’s glory days are behind it, cleaning this up would at least make it usable again. What do others think? Are these solutions reasonable, or does anyone else have better ideas to fix the current mess?

Serious and idiotic sections?

Psychoanalysis of this spammer.

It’s hard to ignore the circus this person has created, it feels like we’re all just playing into the hands of someone who thrives on drama, or perhaps a govt IB sent to cripple the forum.

For years, she’s positioned herself a victim, constantly returning for ridicule and abuse. Her outlandish claims as a married virgin, might seem bizarre, but it’s clear she’s not here for meaningful engagement, she’s here for attention.

It’s troubling to watch this cycle repeat itself. She keeps provoking people, setting herself up for abuse, and then cries foul when she gets it. This behavior is a symptom of deep emotional issues and a desperate need for validation, even a negative one.

While it may seem self-destructive, it’s also highly manipulative, forcing the rest of the forum into an unhealthy dynamic where the focus is on her chaotic need for conflict, while meaningful discussion gets sidelined.
