So Sad. The Singapore government spent millions to doll up Sentosa hoping to attract rich Chinese and Indonesian tycoons to loiter around there and stay there.

End up attracted Blanglas to ogle at girls in bikinis. Sad case.

Its the Genting casino magic effect. Government poured a lot of money into Sentosa and allowed a casino to operate there to draw the crowd. But nowadays Sentosa has a lot of foreign workers hanging around looking at girls in bikini

Cool ! The ferry link is key and will make the CIQ busy. When the Raffles Marina MRT is ready in 2016 and ferry operates from Raffles Marina to PH, will be a big boost ! Hope the area is not too crowded then as I like the current pleasant environment.

The news says the ferry service from harbourfront is starting in June '14. Where is the source of the writer's information on this? This date has been very elusive since I first heard it.

Also been looking forward to this news as it will be very positive for PH

With all the shipyards, senoko industrial park, our port, biomedical park, oil and gas and other supporting industries and SMEs moving to tuas it makes sense to stay at puteri harbour and commute to work at tuas. If I am not wrong close to 300,000 will be working at tuas by 2027.

from this map one can see the coming tuas mrt at tuas drive appears to be like catering just for raffles marina members which i dont think so. therefore i think there would probably be a proper ciq which i think would be an extended 2nd linked customs for ferry passengers. It just makes sense if anything about easing congestion were to be considered.

Sorry to disappoint you as it is going to get more and more crowded. 3 years ago I really enjoyed the ambience of sitting by the seaside in PH as my car will be the one and only parked there. The activities got more and more and it is now chaotic even though there is zero residents. When the 5-10 condos all TOP, with convention centers starting to hold exhibitions, the crowd will be crazy.

The boost is that there would be more tourists coming out from Harbourfront and it will likely makes this place more lively for all visiting PH.

The state govt will ensure that PH is well maintained and policed if they want to keep the tourists coming. The place will also be well known to tourists and international investors will more likely end up investing there than anywhere else

Saw this interesting rendering ad by fareast org today regarding their tuas commercial project "the index" which shows a panoramic view of the whole of tuas including the new mega port which should be ready to receive its first customer in 2022 and by 2027 when tj pagar port leases expires the tuas port should be fully functional. So as regards to workers from over the causeway, i believe apart from land mode i believe they would want another mode which should be water taxis. and the new tuas link mrt would serve well travellers landing at 2nd link. Look at it yourself. Its a very interesting overview indeed!

raffles marina is a pte club. Its not a ciq but whenever immigration service is neded by members or those affiliated with it can request for ica staff but prior notice must be given so like i hv said the spore 2nd link ciq would need to extend their service for water taxis if it ever materialised.

For those of you who are unclear about the Spore govt land policy and direction of use ( for the benefit of those who never read news ), its announced by govt for Tengah, only Tengah Airbase will remain and probably expanded to meet the needs of the military in Western Singapore. The rest of the training ground such as the live firing area will be moved to Pulau Tekong.

SINGAPORE - To meet the projected 6.9-million population figure by 2030, an additional 5,200ha of land will be needed, equivalent to the space of nine Ang Mo Kio towns.

This was one of the key proposals outlined in the Population White Paper released on Tuesday.

Some 700,000 new homes are needed to support the increase in population.

Of this, 200,000 will be completed by the end of 2016.

Releasing its Land Use Plan yesterday, the Ministry of National Development said the total land required to prepare for the future would have to be 76,600ha, up from the current 71,400ha.

Most of the land will be allocated for housing, and industry and commerce.

The land set aside for housing will increase by 3,000ha from the current 10,000ha, while the land for industry and commerce will increase by 3,100ha from the current 9,700ha.

This extra land will have to be obtained through land reclamation, the bulk of which would be at Pulau Tekong. Its land area will be increased by 2,000ha.

Military-training grounds from the main island will be moved there, freeing up space for development. Army camps will not be affected.

Essentially, more land will be reclaimed, new towns built and golf courses redeveloped as part of a government plan to accommodate a significantly larger population. By 2030, not only will Singapore have an estimated population of 6.9 million, it will also have 76,600 hectares of land, up from 71,400 hectares the island currently stands on. This is a significant projected increase of some 5,200 hectares of land in 17 years’ time.

Pulau Tekong to be reclaimed, and be the only military training ground

Chief among the areas to be reclaimed would be Tuas and Pulau Tekong. The plan dictated that all military training activities would be consolidated at Pulau Tekong once reclamation efforts are complete. Beyond 2030, the potential areas for reclamation to take place would include Marina East, Changi East and Pasir Ris. These are also marked as reserve sites that are able to support future needs such as housing and industries.

As the White Paper mentioned, 700,000 new homes will be ready by 2030. This will be done by maximizing the use of existing land to build new homes or redevelop existing sites such as farmland and golf courses. One example would be the military training area in Tengah. It will be transformed into a new town with some 55,000 homes when military training activities are shifted to Pulau Tekong.
