"The solving of this case also reaffirms the close partnership between the police and the community, and the important role that the public plays in fighting crime," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation & Intelligence) and concurrent director CID Florence Chua.
"The police would like to thank members of the public for providing valuable information which aided investigations and contributed to the arrest."
Its a euphemism that the public paotoh the perpetrator to the police. Most likely a family member or close confidante. The fact that 48hrs passed before they could catch him also points to the fact that the public revealed who it was because police investigations obviously could not identify who it was, otherwise within 12 hours he would have been caught.
It would be shameless if the police want to take credit for solving this murder.
