During my house visit yesterday morning, I met an elderly lady, better known as Ah Choo, age 81. She is actually my grandma's old neighbour in Pulau Brani during the post war times. She knows me as my aunt's younger sister's daughter. What a small world!
Pulau Brani was selected to house a naval base in early 1971. In those days, there were some settlements along the island's coast.
In September 1971, work for the development of the naval base commenced, and villagers living on the island were resettled to mainland Singapore.

"Mature workers deliver tremendous value to our workplaces...We urge all employers to appreciate these positive attributes in mature workers, especially when considering them for employment and re-employment."
Took a picture with these 2 kids while visiting a household in PE last week. Although this is the first time we met, the kids were not shy at all, they warmed up to me almost instantly
I am wearing the same top I wore before pregnancy, I wonder if I should be happy or worried. — at Punggol East.
I was out with the team for our weekly Hammer outreach at Punggol East SMC and Aljunied GRC this morning. Mother's Day or not, this group of people is always out to do their marketing, buying breakfast and running errands for the family
She balances so many roles and she does it all with a smile. And though we feel it in our hearts, sometimes we leave our appreciation unsaid. I would say, on this day, take this opportunity to pick up your phone and give mum a call
Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you residents of Punggol East SMC and Aljunied GRC. We will always be grateful for your support.
And a very Happy Mother's Day to all our residents who are mothers! One of our MPs will be joining your ranks soon

[h=1]14-05-25: Tea With Li Lian[/h]Updated <abbr title="Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 10:58pm" data-utime="1401029904" class="timestamp">about a minute ago</abbr>
This afternoon, residents from Blk 142 to 159A Rivervale Crescent came together for yet another instalment of Tea with Li Lian. MP Miss Lee Li Lian bonded with residents over tea and a simple but appetising buffet, complete with chin chow (perfect for the weather) and samosas. Tea with Li Lian is a great way for her and volunteers in the Punggol East team to chit-chat with residents about local issues as well as our day-to-day lives in Singapore. As a Punggol East resident myself, it’s always a pleasure to get to know my neighbours. What better way to do that than over a cuppa?

今晚,工人党失去了一位非常至深的党员,Eng To 叔。他不但深受党内年轻一倍的爱戴,前辈也对他的执着表示尊重。大家都对他的离去感到伤心。
Uncle Eng To was with the Workers' Party for countless years. Not only was he well liked by our juniors, he was also well respected by the seniors.
Despite having difficulties in walking, he used to participate in the WP's weekly hammer outreach until his health deteriorates.
The last time I visited him was during CNY this year at his place. Although he appeared weaker he was still able to talk clearly to me.
This evening, many of us are saddened to hear of his demise. During the times I know him, I have never heard him complain, blame or belittle what we were doing. He was always giving support and encouragement. Uncle Eng To was a great man and he will always be remembered.

[/URL]"Madam, the President concludes his speech pledging ourselves anew to build a better, brighter Singapore. Today we have the ability to broaden our social security nets and to pay closer attention to the diversity of challenges our citizens face today. As a successful and progressive country, we are in the best position to focus more attention on those who need an extra hand. People must be at the centre of how decisions are made, even if they belong to the fringes, for it is really how we treat those who are most vulnerable that is the true mark of leadership and governance." - MP Lee Li Lian
