Usd crash against which currency? Euro, yen, rmb, commodities, precious metals? USA is gradually reducing reliance on oil imports, and manufacturing is also shifting back to USA. USA properties are cheaper than even JB. How to crash?

Have to agree that those Indonesians buying property in Spore are in it for the long term. Someone I know from Batam has a condo in Spore. It is being used by his daugther who is studying in Spore.

There are also Indonesian owned properties being rented out as service apartments e.g. in Lucky Plaza. Anyone remember those HDB units being rented out as cheap hostels by some filipinos? There is a market for under $100/day rentals & these foreigners are tapping into it.

This is temporary state. The USA property market will eventually recover and the fed will reverse the money flow. People should watch and worry about china instead. That's going to be the biggest global risk in coming decades.

Even if it drops by 20% it will not effect those who have already purchased properties. Their intent is long term investment e.g. the daughter still will be in school for a couple more years, the units bought to generate rent out will still be rentable. Many rich indonesian have foreign properties in case there is trouble back home like those riots in Jakarta in 1998.

There must be some savy foreigners out there. These people have taken loans & If the market really a collapses I bet they will just abandon Spore like what happened to Dubai when the economy was really bad. They will simply walked away leaving their cars & property behind.

You bring up a very good point,,once USA becomes oil independent,,the huge outflow of USD will be reduced,,and also if the USA can get its taxes sorted out,,they will definately be able to reduce the deficit,,its all the mucking around by the republicans and the spending by obama that is causing problems

If property market crashes, many sinkees will be poor and the PAP will be toast. The PAP will spend tens of billions to prop up the market.

How can property prices crash if the population is ever increasing. All these new guys need places to stay right?

And how can pte property crash without hdb prices being affected as well? No matter how 'cheap' pte property is they will always be say cost 50% more than the same size same location hdb flat right?

Stagnant or some slight decrease after the latest cooling measure I guess. I am with watchman on this. PAP red eye see pte developer earn so much. They want a bigger pie hence the increase in the ABSD.
