20141129 PAP on the side of foreigners, needs them more than Singaporeans
November 29, 2014 by phillip ang

I refer to PAP’s propaganda by PM Lee “PAP will always be on the side of Singapore and of Singaporeans”.

PM Lee’s entire article is full of self praise and it seems our leader has conveniently forgotten his recent actions have contradicted his message.

In April this year, PM Lee described some Singaporeans as “a disgrace to Singapore” for harassing the organisers of the Philippine Independence Day celebrations. It is doubtful the PMO was aware of all the issues surrounding the Philippine Independence Day celebrations which was subsequently canceled. Why was PM Lee only slamming locals?

One month later, PM Lee said “Singaporeans, new arrivals, people who are on permanent residence here, people who are on employment pass here,..this is a place which is special, which belongs to all of us…”. Can PAP be on the side of Singapore and Singaporeans when our country also belongs to every foreign residents here except tourists?

PM Lee: “In fact, if I can get another 10 billionaires to move to Singapore.., my GINI coefficient will get worse but Singaporeans will be better off..” So PM Lee’s idea of being better off is to perpetuate a problem? Inflation has been worsened by allowing tens of thousands of rich foreigners making Singapore their base, not home, but PM Lee is not bothered how PAP’s immigration policy has impacted Singaporeans. Can PAP be on our side when it is not even concerned about our well-being?

It’s not just PM Lee but other ministers and MPs would also be on the side of foreigners eg. Hri Kumar decided to go gentle on Anton casey and came up with a silly ‘cure’ for making offensive and thoughtless remarks. Kumar is so forgiving towards adult foreigners but when it comes to 5 teenage Singaporeans who were charged with vandalism, Kumar has nothing to say. The attitude of the PAP is unmistakably pro foreigner.

In other countries, the government prioritises citizens over foreigners. Here, the PAP dishes out tuition grants to foreigners’ amounting to about $400 million every year. This works out to each citizen contributing about $120 to invite foreigners to deprive local students of their education. Is this being on the side of Singaporeans? Why is the PAP government offering more grants to each foreigner when it can’t even take care of locals?

To put into perspective, would China, with a 1.36 billion population, spend $163 billion in educational grants to foreigners? Would the US government spend $37 billion to do likewise?
Spending a disproportionate amount of tax dollars on foreigners is confirmation of a pro-foreigner PAP government.

When PAP creates jobs for foreigners, jobs which Singaporeans are suitably qualified for, how does it benefit Singaporeans?

When PAP allows thousands of HDB units to house foreigners working in Singapore, while needy citizens waited for months or more than a year, was PAP being on the side of Singaporeans?

The PAP has never been on the side of Singapore or Singaporeans because it needs cheaper foreigners to lower business cost; PAP needs to protect its own business interests.

Wealthy new immigrants help to maintain/increase property prices and create an artificial demand for goods and services. In order to create the illusion of high economic growth, PAP will continue to roll our the red carpet for wealthy foreigners to make Singapore their base.

PM Lee was speaking from his heart when he said Singapore belongs to foreigners as well. PAP has no growth idea besides increasing the population which it has been doing so for 2 decades. Sadly, PAP needs foreigners more than Singaporeans for our next phase of ‘growth’. It has never been on the side of Singaporeans, never will be.

What shamelessness! :rolleyes::D

PAP - The only political party to hold Singapore together
https://www.pap.org.sg/news-and-com...-only-political-party-hold-singapore-together

The PAP has built a harmonious and cohesive nation, taking into account and balancing the diverse and sometimes conflicting beliefs, ideologies and interests of the people. It has accumulated strengths and experience to continue to chart a clear course forward and to forge consensus on the major issues facing Singapore.

The PAP is not just an ordinary political party with partisan views and advancing only vested interests. It is a unique and key institution - the only party able to hold our country together.

The PAP lives by its bedrock values of integrity and equal opportunity for all Singaporeans to maximise their potential and reap the rewards of their efforts. That is why we wear white on special party occasions. It is to remind ourselves and Singaporeans of our fundamental values.

A friend told me she works in this mnc in changi biz park and the company is 90% ah neh and angmoh from top to bottom. She is not happy working there and looking for a new job and told me the job market is not as tight as portrayed. PAP should be held accountable for allowing a mnc to operate in Spore hiring 90% foreigners. Create jobs for Singaporeans? My foot.

It is this kind of defeatist mindset that PAP loves. WP didn't say that they don't want the job.

In 2011, Low Thia Khiang says that "Workers' Party is not ready to form a government yet".

Not Ready to form a government yet is far from don't want the job.

PAP do not run this country by themselves. The civil servants (I am not talking about those high ranking civil servants whose blind loyalty make them beholden to the PAP and are partisan) are there to support the government of the day.

PAP have proven themselves to be self serving and not capable of running this country. Do not even harbour any hope that they would change.

Change would have to come from us.

Singapore ≠ PAP

20141203 GE 2016 – vote for a real government, not CEOs of Singapore Inc
December 3, 2014 by phillip ang

It’s about time Singaporeans take control of our collective destiny and not be fearful, greedy or apathetic come GE 2016.

The majority have been voting blindly for politicians who act as though they are CEOs of Singapore Inc and screwing up for years! In the real corporate world, epic screw ups are unforgivable unlike Singapore Inc where citizens are required to provide feedback, politely pointing out our CEOs’ mistakes.

Singapore Inc’s directors have attempted to give a semblance of accountability when in reality, none exists. Any independent party to check on Singapore Inc? Right and left all own people right?

Look at all the issues objectively and you will know all the PAP screw ups were preventable. Take for example public housing – how could any competent government controlling both the demand and supply simply ‘forgot’ housing is a basic need? HDB (page 3) constructed 158,000 units between 1996 and 2000, reduced to 55,000 from 2001 to 2005, and further reduced to 30,000 from 2006 to 2010. This while the population exploded by 1,500,000 within the same period. Did PAP expect to house them at Hong Lim Park?

Strangely, ‘CEO’ of MND remembered foreigners working in Singapore needed housing and sacrificed 4,000 public housing units in good locations under JTC’s ‘SHIFT’!

The PAP government comprises CEOs helming different ministries with only profit making in mind. So long as the PAP met its profit objective, never mind if the people paid the price for our ‘success’. When citizens demanded accountability from ministers and permanent secretaries, the PAP did just that – reward themselves with more salary increases and bigger bonuses for their ‘success’.

The high cost of housing is a non issue to the PAP so long as its ‘mistakes’ were rectified with the completion of 200,000 residential units by 2016. We are expected to accepted everything shoved down our throats and move on with life.

The ex-CEO for health had also somehow forgotten to expand the healthcare sector and needed feedback to understand healthcare is a need. No joke. A reduction in the number of hospital beds was actually not a mistake because the ‘ex-CEO’s’ main responsibility was to ensure higher prices to benefit Singapore Inc. But after being slapped by citizens at the May 2011 ‘EGM’, a newly appointed CEO informed citizens there would be a magical increase of 10,000 hospital beds by 2020. But will it be sufficient?

It appears the ex-CEO has no inkling the population increased by one million and and the current CEO has not planned for the anticipated increase in population to 6.02 million by 2020.

Do we want such CEOs to be responsible for healthcare knowing full well that they do not anticipate issues and their planning is based on … hope?

Then there’s also the transportation CEO who had ZERO relevant experience. As if a ‘CEO’ with military background wasn’t enough, an ‘assistant CEO’ from the military was appointed to take charge of our mass rapid transit system. Why are Singaporeans voting for disasters to happen?

The PAP has never concerned itself with the problems of ordinary citizens. To PAP, these CEOs have performed remarkably well, according to their profitability yardstick. Their objective has always been to inflate prices to generate higher revenue for Singapore Inc. Their ‘success’ is clearly visible from the number of ERP gantries, higher COE prices, higher healthcare costs, highest public housing prices, etc.

The PAP CEO system offers guarantees such as epic screw ups and a very high cost of living. It will again fail citizens and maybe some crocodile tears will be shed, pleading for yet another chance. We only have ourselves to blame for supporting such a system in the past. Hopefully more Singaporeans are now aware of the scheming PAP, through social media, and resolve to put an end to our unnecessary suffering by voting for a real government which looks after our well-being instead of the bottom line.
