5. For your info, there was no peace treaty signed between PRC and ROC. So technically, the PRC and ROC are still at war with each other. Why? Because both the PRC and ROC claim sovereignty over the whole of China including Taiwan as a province. So both PRC and ROC recognize that Taiwan is a part of China.
What crap are you talking about? The CCP won the civil war and chased Chiang and his KMT goons to Taiwan. They declared the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, with the unfinished business of eventually taking back Taiwan. How can that be 'declaring independence from ROC'? On many key technologies it has surged ahead of the US, but how that translates into increased wealth for the nation and military superiority is yet to be seen.
Which begs the question: why is the US running so scared of China that it is going all out to stymie China's growth, sanction its companies, threaten its borders and sovereignty, and bad mouth it every way it can in the Western mainstream media?
Neutral observers like myself see it as a sign of a creeping sense of insecurity within the power and policy circles in the US, maybe due to an acknowledgment of its waning power, as well as the deeply rooted (racist) ideology that a non-white country should not be allowed to be the pre-eminent power in the world.
