They are clueless in having an emotional bond/relationship with their own kids. They have this logic that if they push their kids to academic excellence, they are showing "love" to their children.

But the truth is that such parents (whether Chinese or not) only/mainly love themselves, i.e. they only/mostly care about their own faces, which is why they want their children to look "good" in the eyes of other people, especially in the eyes of the government and the upper classes, in order for them (the parents) to also look "good"; otherwise, if their children are seen as inferior in terms of academic achievements, they (the parents) would lose face (and, therefore, lose social status/influence/power) simply because their children look "bad".

Unfortunately, such parents are too proud/vain to even consider the possibility that their (or at least some of their) own children could have inferior genes that are causing their inferior intelligence and academic achievements, let alone empathize/sympathize with such children.

Basically, such parents treat their own children as SLAVES to serve/feed their own vanity, like facial make-up. :(
