actually to solve the problem is not very difficult lah. if the father, the son & the woody goh can all sacrifice their bonus + take 20% cut in their salary, and prataman donate 50% of his salary to all charity organization islandwide. problem will be solved liao. no need for broke & starving sporns to make donation, when we ourselves would appreciate some donation.Aiyah: Nathan shud donate his year's pay.................. solves all funding needs

What a lousy show and now less than $300K donation for more than 2 hour show from 7pm.
prataman could easily top it off by donating part of his million $ pay

The issue here is not about private donations, but about the government taking care of the disadvantaged, vulnerable people in the first place. Forcing charity organisations to depend on these charity shows in the first place, and then forcing them to take on the responsibility of taking care of these people, as the first resort is extremely irresponsible.
I mean, sure charity organisations, faith-based groups, and foundations can take on these jobs- but it's usually done in sync with the government in general, where the government tries to take care of the basic needs, while these groups take care of individual cases.
The government has a responsibility to do something as well, and to give help, even when not asked. If help is given to people who need it even when they didn't ask: that's sincere and genuine.
But in Singapore, when charity organisations are forced to beg for money from private donors and from ordinary people, and where the government uses the show to politically pressurise these groups- and don't lift a finger to even help first- then its very disgusting.
The government, in short, should be helping first. They are the basis for help, with other organisations helping out later as well. But when they outsource and don't help whatsoever, they have gone down the moral abyss.
It is a very nice gesture of you to enrich our president in the next world, but money that he makes in this world will unfortunately not follow him into the next world. I am sure he knows that.
