Ya, a Pahk Si Mai Low Kui gloved hand will put in a few face saving million dollars from the reserves piggy bank.
Don't expect any, it is the most pathetic begging show so far. Whole thing is like going thru motion with lifeless expression from everyone.
Even other donation drive faired better than this one.
I don't miss such shows honestly. Ever since NKF, and the Buddhist monk..such drives have been under severe suspicion. For a good reason.

This is the worst media charity ever witnessed. I am not surprised even the woody prata man sitting there did not quite appeal to the audience and only less than half a million dollars donated within that 3 hours show. Singaporean are now smarter than I expected. I suspect the rich donors were told to step on stage to hand out their million dollars cheque since the show did not reach the ideal hit required.
But all will be state-owned companies, and somehow still very much our money.
In the end, it doesn't make much of a difference, technically.

You are right. But you still cant deny this year's Prez Charity show is as interesting as a POSB variety show.
Nobody compelled you to buy. You are buying hopes. At least you can be certain that these draws make millionaires out of someone - Singaporeans and FTs.
Singapore is democratic - regardless of race, language and religious - everyone queues up to buy hopes. That's what I like about the country - no hardups to doing things practicals.
