His vehicle had a slight dent only in the back, with the left signal light displaced. But the entire front of the lorry had caved in.
The impact had also caused the lorry's front left wheel to mount the centre divider on Woodlands Avenue 1.
A reader of The New Paper, who wanted to be known only as Ms Lina, said she was driving along Woodlands Avenue 1 around 12.50pm when she spotted fire engines and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel attending to the injured driver.
"His head was bandaged and he seemed to be semi-conscious," said Ms Lina, 42, referring to the lorry driver.
An SCDF spokesman said the lorry driver's legs were stuck under the dashboard.
Trapped for 20 minutes
He was trapped for about 20 minutes.
Two fire engines, two support vehicles and an ambulance were at the scene.
SCDF personnel had to use hydraulic spreaders, cutters and a ramp to release the driver.
The driver, a man in his 30s, suffered leg and facial injuries and was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Police are investigating the accident.
