SINGAPORE - A woman was found dead in an apartment unit in Geylang last night.

Police were informed of the incident at about 7.40pm yesterday. When they arrived, they found the female lying motionless at a unit in Kim Court, at No. 11, Lorong 9 Geylang.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 8.39 pm.

According to the police, they have arrested a 28-year-old female in connection with the case. She will be charged in court tomorrow at 9am.

The case has been classified as murder, and investigations are ongoing.

A female tenant was found murdered in the master bedroom of a fourth storey unit in Kim Court on Geylang Lorong 9 on Feb 12, reported The New Paper.

The police arrested a 28-year-old woman, believed to be the victim's roommate, over the death.

She was arrested elsewhere and not at the scene, according to TNP.

A neighbour who lives on floor above the crime scene said she heard the women quarreling twice in the past month.

She said the fights were so intense, and there was "a lot of banging", with things "flung" around.

A tenant who lives in the same apartment said its tenants changed frequently, and was unable to give any details of his fellow tenants.

He said the original three-room unit had been subdivided into six rooms for rent on six-month leases.

The police have classified the case as murder.

PRC workers come from very diversified areas in China. Many after leaving home formed gangs with their own cliques for support but at the same time it also causes rivalry with other groups. In Shenzhen this is a big issue for their police where gang fights often erupted resulting in rioting and deaths.

A Chinese national was charged in court on Thursday with the murder of her roommate in a Geylang apartment. No plea was taken from Jiang Yumei, 28.

She is alleged to have committed murder by causing the death of Ms Zhao Jinhua, 25, also from China, at Kim Court in Lorong 9, Geylang, between midnight and 7.39am on Tuesday.
