Practical ways to save money during a deep recession?

hmm.. save money only to later realise that the money saved became smaller. what's the point?
 
start growing mushroom inside own HDB toilets
start harvesting durian from p.ubin
start hunting for wild boars, if they still exist in sg
start fishing expedition on weekends to stockpile for food
start catching pigeons & crows for food

buy only off-cut meat from butcher or poultry in mkt
buy only half rotting vege from mkt
buy only off-cut portions from chicken/duck rice stall

start eating porridge - 70% water, 30% rice
start eating canned food - luncheon meat, pickled vege, canned fish

don't use LPG gas for cooking, start using newspaper & charcoal
don't use air-con or electric fan, use conventional hand held fan
don't use electric iron, use coal iron

energy saving lamp is not enough to save, start using kerosene lamp
don't use electric water heater, boil water using charcoal stove
don't use fridge, pickle/ sun-dry/ wax your food for preservation

1st world country, 3rd world living standards!

If chicken too expensive, eat fish.
Rice price up? Eat potato.
Bread too costly? Eat cake or retrieve Jit Poon Lo Ti (Japanese bread a.k.a. kotex) from rubbish dump.
