Police have seized 1 million speed pills and 10kg of crystal methamphetamine worth about 230 million baht from a drug gang in Samut Prakan.
Police on Wednesday night arrested five gang members as they delivered drugs to a customer on Soi King Kaeo 19/1 in tambon Racha Thewa in Bang Phli district. The gang had delivered the drugs to customers twice before on the soi, but police intercepted them on their third journey, one of the men arrested said as reported by the police.
The suspects arrested were three men _ Awutthep Phaenthong, Thawan Waithayachot and Chatchai Sae-Lo _ and two women _ Prawinya Rueankham and Chintana Sae-Suem.
The gang had transported the drugs from the North and was paid 30,000 baht for each delivery. The suspects claimed they did not know who hired them because they communicated via text messages.
In a separate incident, police found 100,000 speed pills in three bags left by Kanchanaphisek Road in Nonthaburi.
Police are looking for fingerprints on the bags, found in front of Phra Pin 3 housing estate in Bang Yai district, and are inspecting footage from security cameras to find who left the bags there.
Investigators suspect the area might be a drop-off point for drugs, said Nonthaburi police chief Pol Maj Gen Thanawut Wutthicharatthamrong.
