PMET jobs for pinoys listed on blog
dedicated to finding...

A blog dedicated to helping Filipinos find jobs in
Singapore has listed 6 PMET jobs which can
otherwise be taken up by Singapore in the last
few days:

They are: Java developer, legal assistant, front
desk customer service executive, male
pharmacy technician, mechanical engineer
and music teacher.

The number of Filipinos who now call Singapore
home has grown substantially in recent years,
Around 150,000 Filipinos currently live and work
here, compared with between 100,000 and
120,000 just three years ago. About half of them
are here as maids, but there are a growing
number working in the information technology
and service sectors. (ST, 29 August 2010)

Filipinos are highly sought after in Singapore due
to their English proficiency and relatively lower
cost compared to Singaporeans. Though they
were employed initially in industries shunned by
locals such as nursing, an increasing number are
coming on S-passes to compete directly with
Singaporeans for jobs such as administrative
executives, account executives and mid-level
managerial positions. Even state-linked
companies such as Singpost and POSB are
employing Filipinos as their front-line staff.

Despite Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s
promise during the election to ‘moderate’ the
inflow of foreigners, they continue to flock to
Singapore and compete with our PMETs for
jobs, including the Filipinos.

According to a reader who works in Tan Tock
Seng Hospital, the hospital just hired 20 Filipinos
as Patient Service Assistants to work in the
outpatient clinics. Their starting pay is $1,650
monthly plus a $400 housing allowance.
