Good for you.

Hopefully in the near future Canada will allow Medical Assistance in Dying for conditions like chronic depression.

That may happen sooner than later. :coffee:

https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/medical-assistance-dying.html#grievous

Canadians whose only medical condition is a mental illness, and who otherwise meet all eligibility criteria, will not be eligible for MAID until March 17, 2023 (see About mental illness and MAID).

Damned Canada is well ahead of NZ. Here 2 doctors have to certify that you have a terminal illness before assisted dying is allowed.

Allowing chronically depressed individuals to end their lives legally will certainly help the mental health stats and will greatly reduce the rate of mental illness in the country.

Absolutely agree and I am with you on this.

I do not think money makes people happy. I was happier when I had nothing. I spent my whole life amassing wealth. I have learned alot in this life. I wish I could go back in time. A famous businessman shared this story with me on a flight once. What do you think?

The Story of the Mexican Fisherman

An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The Mexican replied, “only a little while. The American then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs. The American then asked, “but what do you do with the rest of your time?”

The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siestas with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine, and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life.”

The American scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing, and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually New York City, where you will run your expanding enterprise.”

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”

To which the American replied, “15 – 20 years.”

“But what then?” Asked the Mexican.

The American laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions!”

“Millions – then what?”

The American said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siestas with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

money cant buy happiness ?

this one made me think

A person may not be happy even if he has a lot of money. But a person with no money is definitely going to be unhappy.

Actually in almost all instances people with money traded valuable time, emotional investment, mental health, personal sacrifice in order to obtain it.

The process in attaining that money is for most of them a torture and pain.

Once you have enough money to be financially free then you could leave that life.

But you might not be happy. Why? Some yearn for more money!

Turthfully most of us still work cos not rich enough to retire lah. Happiness? That's some man made created fantasy

look its an anonymous internet forum. here we have a saying what happens in vegas stays in vegas sometimes people need to blow off steam

but we should also know when to tone it down, doctor has asked me to, as you can see he is a nice guy so why not.

its not about that there is too much m&d slinging and crap so what I am supposed to do? keep quiet?

Thank you.

https://www.sammyboy.com/forums/flame-war-central.20/

There is actually a section where you guys can go to and duke it out at each other.

What i think is the average visitor will find it very stupid and childish when all the stuff they read is people flaming one another. Dont you think?

You know NHL right? If the entire 3 periods they just do nothig but drop the glvoes and fight after a while the fans will get bored.

i will try to explain why I have decided to take @Leongsam to task.

He knows he is poking the bear abt COVID. Search my past posts here - I only respond to his COVID posts.

At first everyone here laughed - and it was humorous.

then people mostly started to ignore him. His pointless threads were like tanwahtiu spastic crap no one wanted a part of.

then next thing you know people like laksaboy and tobelight started the conspiracy theory vaccine crap

i was reading your own interaction with tobelight recently and its shocking.

https://www.sammyboy.com/threads/how-many-singaporeans-are-like-this.305707/#post-3405651

Its my opinion that @Leongsam is breeding purposefully this kind of conspiracy theory crap because he thinks its funny which it was but now its not.

its serious. when you have this forum producing far right wing conspiracy crap we all in trouble - that is why it pisses me off so much

and doctor I know you know you even asked @Leongsam to cut the crap and be reasonable but why would he? Its all a joke

But look around us, we now have some serious problems with people like tobelight out there threatening our very way of life

maybe I am at fault, but I am just trying to do a PSA here to try to do something about the damaging effect of conspiracy theories. So I went after @Leongsam. 322 times. And what do I get? his sidekick @eatshitndie does not like it and childish crap about ISD, bring down the forum, etc

who is really trying to bring down the forum? to me its the conspiracy theories even @Leongsam admits he does it but does not admit the damaging effects

that should tell you how pathetic the whole situation is.

my intention was always to do the right thing

because a world with tobelights running around is my worst nightmare - my opinion

i said my peace

a wise friend once told me this, I thought it's very profound.

It is much better to be rich and miserable, than to be poor and miserable.:biggrin:

Absolutely agree. If we are rich, our misery may be temporary. But as long as we are poor, our misery will be permanent.:biggrin:

Actually I think the point is to be both rich and happy.

I notice you speak alot about depression. I already said its something everyone gets at some point, but eventually it goes away.

Someone once told me depression is anger turned inwards, or inside.

I appreciate, as do some of the others I'm sure, what you're trying to do. Your views and counter arguments have been digested and weighed against the others. It's always good to hear both sides.

Let's trust our readers here to have the intelligence to deduce which are the conspiracy theories, which are plausible and which are irrefutable facts.

Yes, we must always do the right thing. In fact, it is my life's guiding principle. But I always seek to do so without being aggressive, rude and overly persistent.

Peace and love!

Correctamundo! Being rich allows us to acquire the things that could make us happy. We are able to explore possible ways to make us happy. Get a Bentley, a Grand Banks, a Patek, a high class hooker, etc etc. And if we're still not happy, buy some other stuff lah!
