I can understand that being young and armed with degree or professional qualification, you may think that your future is going to be quite bright. I asssured you that this is just your wishful thinking.
I have a neighbour's daughter that graduated from NUS with a business degree 2 years ago, and she has been on contract employment since Day1. She approached various CDCs, Ministry of Labour for help ....... do you know what is their reply?
"Miss, but you have employment right now (obvioucly, they are referring to her temporary contract job). Our organisation will help only those that are out of work at this moment".
I am using this example to share with all youngsters out there:
Don't believe the employment data presented by the government ..... as contract work, temporary job, daily rated job, hourly rated job are all classified under "Employed". That's why our unemployment rate is so impressive.
The truth is that upon your graduation, you may end up just like the poor young lady I quoted above. She has to compete with all the Foreign Talents for her fulltime employment prospects, which is very tough ... not because she is less qualified or talented, but because these Foreign Talents accept a lower pay.
