Singapore needs to draw upon its reserves to provide welfare for its people only if the budget has been spent on welfare for foreigners in the form of scholarships to study in Singapore schools and universities, paying multi-million salaries, bonuses and pensions to Ministers who convert once in 50-year disasters into annual occurrences, paid multi-million salaries to CEOs of GLCs to manage monopolies and billions to be gambled off in contrarian investments. The welfare of our own people ranks at the bottom among all these. That is why we have to draw from the reserves to give welfare to our people.

Democracy means more than mere voting.

If the government of the day from day one is made of a fascist political party then there can be no democracy.

If the government controls all forms of mainstream media that supports its every individual and policy then there is no democracy.

If the government controls all semblance of a labour union then there can be no democracy.

If the government instill wide ranging, multi-generational policies involving extensive mass immigration without uttering such policies during elections then there is no democracy.

If the government enslaves its citizens for hundreds of thousands of dollars for public housing when the cost to build these are a small fraction of their prices to their citizens then there is no democracy.

If the government rescinds it promise to pay their citizens their pension dues and invokes laws that allows the government to withhold these pensions indefinitely then there is no democracy.

If the government withholds state funds from opposition held wards then there is no democracy.

If the government allows wholy inept party members to become MPs and ministers and to hold on to political office in areas where they are not suitably qualified then there is no democracy.

If the government is made up of a fascist political party then there is no democracy.
