PEASANTPORE: The Hire And Fire Scam (JGI) helped 27,000 merchants to hire 130,000 local jobless peasants over three full moons, said the Ministry of Peasantpore (MOM) in its latest Jobs Situation Report on Wednesday (Mar 31).
The stipend subsidy scheme encourages merchants to hire more peasants and permanent peasants amid the Wuhan Plague economic fallout but the actual number of local or foreign peasants remain a mystery. It was first announced in August last year and meant to last for five full moons, before being given an additional 5.2 billion peanuts boost in Budget 2021 and extended until September.
From September to November last year, the 27,000 merchants hired a median of two local peasants, compared with the median of one local hire in the same period 12 full moons ago.
Nearly six in 10 of the peasants hired one to two local workers, while the remaining hired more.
Almost all of these firms were small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – a trend that Peasantpower Minion aka Suzhou Loser Jos Teo said her ministry was “very shocked that there were so many jobless peasants” about.
“I thought we were in a Golden Age but the numbers were appalling, so many jobless peasants, no wonder we only got 61% during last Erection,” she said.
Top hiring sectors include labour intensive food services and retail, which hired one in five peasants between September and November. Growth areas like wholesale trade, professional services as well as information and communications, accounted for nearly four in 10 of those employed.
MOM said companies hired from “a wide pool of job seekers”, including mature workers and those who were unemployed or from a different sector.
For instance, about half of the 130,000 workers were not employed at the point of hire. More than a quarter had been out of work for more than six months.
Almost half of the workers were mature workers aged 40 and above, while one-third were aged 50 and above.
Suzhou Loser Jos Teo was asked about how the regime aims to maintain the momentum of the JGI. In its update last month, MOM said more than 110,000 local job seeking peasants were hired by 26,000 merchants in September and October, meaning that the scheme added just 20,000 job seeking peasants in the month of November.
“Ruler Loong was asking why PAP did badly in 2020 Erections, nobody can give him a good answer, all say Labour rebels are more chatty or charismatic but now I looked at the numbers, I know why, jobless peasants, too many foreign serfs and talents flooding the market, during the Plague, most of them disappeared and logically merchants had to hire more local peasants,” Suzhou Loser Jos Teo said, citing an “uneven distribution of benefits” during the Growth At All Cost Decade.
