Over 1 Million Singaporeans Are Unemployed in Singapore

Over 1 Million Singaporeans unemployed ?

Is this due structural unemployment ? Are there no jobs in the market or we are not willing to move on to new fields ?

2.9 million foreigners in the country in a population of 5.4 million. Who do you think took the jobs?

let's deal with facts. all you have to do is look into the resident population statistics of sg in 2014. "resident" covers citizens and pr's. as of the latest census data (2014), sg has 855k sinkies below 20 years old and 431k sinkies 65 years and older. 2.583m are between 20 to 64 years old. obviously, if you do the math, 855k + 431k = 1.286m are below 20 (infants, children, students, ns men) and 65 and older (elderly, retirees, etc.). the "over 1 million sinkies are unemployed" statement is a half-truth and is extremely deceptive and disingenuous.

It is due largely to poor sinkie gene pool, as shown by this chronically ill and mentally/physically handicapped sinkie family. That's why we need foreigners, even if they only have a degree from some degree mill. They are still much more economically valuable to Singapore than this burdensome sinkie family.

Yes.. I now recall LKY ever told a young NUS student to marry young.. if it is too late .... past 35 years... the chances of having defects in a baby is higher... wonder if she has heeded his advice.

Good posting here! Too bad there are enuff stupid people here that are easily taken in by sensational but meaningless headlines.

The construction and shipbuilding industry pays very well. Just that fucktards Sinkees prefers to work in aircon comfort ......PMETs? Another name for whiners.......

Let's not forget the NS boys who are considered as employed but underpaid.

Also the way statistics data is collected is flawed. If you are driving a cab on a temp basis, you are considered employed. Even though you are really under employed. Also after a few months, those still looking for a job are ignore from the stats.

your reading and comprehension skills are atrocious, including logic and math. the 855k number i cited includes ns men under 20 years. full time ns starts at age 18 and lasts for 2 years for the vast majority. they should be considered "employed", but to favor your fuzzy math, i lumped them in the unemployed category. if you want to debate statistics, i'll point out more statistics for you to chew on.

as of 2014, the total population of sg was 5.47m. sg residents which included citizens (3.343m) and pr's (527k) totaled 3.87m. the difference of 1.6m could be attributed to foreigners working and or living in sg, not the fabricated 2.3m number that is bandied around as though it is fact. it is fiction. if over 1.28m sg residents including citizens and pr's are unemployed based on their age groups i cited earlier, there are over 2m sg citizens and pr's who are working in some form or another. that's a substantial percentage compared to any other city or country as the unemployment rate should only apply to eligible age groups legally allowed to work, not the total population. obviously, you bunch of so called armchair experts love to calculate the rate based on total population, which is bogus.

A lot of these r unemployed housewives or retires on early retirement. For high earners, highly likely their wives don't work. Also older Singaporeans can call it a day if their kids r working and they have enough to retire.

How many people can sit back & do nothing when they can't touch their CPF:confused:

The scariest thing is not the number of unemployed Singaporeans, but the number of employed foreigners way outnumber the number of employed sinkies, which means this economy is no longer reliant on locals.Singaporeans have become redundant to Singapore. Sinkies can look forward to a future of doing low wages odd jobs or driving taxis while the bulk of the economy is powered by FTS.

Forgot to include those who are doing MLM, Insurance, Property sales,... Many Sporeans will say they are doing something because there is a stigma about being unemployed in Spore.

My point is that the PAP is using the statistics to paint a rosy figure & not as a tool to show the reality.

the context in this thread has nothing to do with the pap giving a rosy figure. where in this thread did they paint a rosy picture? it's all make-belief by you bunch of shoot-from-the-hip, deceptive, and disingenuous sycophants without any attempt to analyze the facts. i'm simply pointing out the facts and stats available online on the population census in sg and inferring by age groups who make up the so called "over 1 million" sinkies who "are unemployed" to refute the claim (yes it's correct, but it's a half truth).

It only shows how well fed the Sinkies are, such that they can still survive without having to work.

I'm sure if they aren't able to put at least 2 meals a day on the table, no matter what job (at what pay) that comes along, they'll rush for it, at least to make ends meet during the interim period.

It only shows what a LOSER FUCKTARD Lightning IB you are!

REBUT the below points or GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ELITE FIELD OF VISION! :oIo::kma:

If this See Gin Nar were to ridicule the King in Thailand in the same manner, he will surely be put away without any need for an interrogation nor a trial. He should consider himself lucky to be able to engage a lawyer for his case here in Sinkie Land.

Apparently a loser like you cannot appreciate that we must compare apples with apples and not with oranges:

1) Sinkie Land is a republic not a monarchy. As such, there is no king or queen, and it stands to logic that there is NO such crime as lese majeste.

2) Thailand is a Third World country. Sinkie Land claims to have gone from "Third World to First World", why that dead Old Fart even claimed credit for it by making it the title of the second part of his autobiography, as if the first part did not contain enough nonsense already. Were this to happen in Switzerland, a First World country, the boy's constitutional right to freedom of speech would be duly respected.

3) Even in a constitutional monarchy (where the queen's role is purely ceremonial) such as the United Kingdom, it is perfectly LEGAL to make fun of the Queen as this video will prove. Why there are even some parodies of the Queen which are produced and shown on BBC, which is funded by taxpayers but independent of the Government which in turn is separate and different from mere political parties such as Lightning.
