malaysians dont even speak english. many speak pidgin english or broken english. only a handful are fluent but even then, they are not that fluent.

they are malay educated so of course they are not fluent. english is a foreign language to them.

Because Singapore has No choice . It lacks the critical mass to expend its Economic footprint to compete effectively in a 21st century environment . Size does matter , for the same reason Powerhouse Germany had to 'merge' with the 4th world PIGs , esp Greece + Ireland .
