Ordinary singaporeans are never her slightest worry. she is there to make sure MRT/Bus coys make money.

Anyway, I guess she is driven around by her persoanl car/driver so squeezing in or changing trains/bus and paying more is never her worry.
I agree.
But the last I heard, it's ordinary singaporeans who will determine whether she will remain as an mp and hence as a ministar right?
Not just top executives and shareholders of transport companies?

Or is she confident that most of the silly ordinary singaporeans will still vote for her?

Long haul service routes are still useful. With proper planning, they're still efficient, fast and usually on time. Make good use of the expressways and plan the stops at both ends. For example, #23 and #190 made good use of the expressways and served the Jalan Besar-Serangoon, Orchard-Chinatown areas very well for residents from as far as Tampines, CCK-Bukit Panjang. better than even MRT some may say.

A bad example is #147. It takes about 30 minutes for it to loop around, Hougang, Punggol and Aljunied from the time it leaves Hougang Interchange to re-emerge back into Upper Serangoon main road at Serangoon MRT to embark on its journey proper towards the city. Such a loop should be assigned to a feeder service, not incorporated into the route of a line intended to head from east to west.

Basically, they are limiting our options so eventually ppl have to take public transportation (esp MRT) or buy expensive COEs. SMRT must make back the money they used to build the Circle Line...etc...

This is a fallacy. The infrastructure is financed using taxpayers' $. SMRT just operates it. A classic example of 'no capital biz'! and the FAPee dogs still dare to charge sky high fares and chalk up record profits every year!

LONG-DISTANCE bus routes taking commuters from one part of Singapore to another could be a thing of the past.

How on earth is it possible to have a LONG HAUL service of ANY transport mode when that snot of an Island is only 40km x 20km???

The whole stupid country has lost all sense of reality from the top echelons of govt down to the poorest lesser mortal peasant!

I don't think she need any vote from ordinary singaporeans. She is extraordinaire.

One wonders who her best buddy is since JC days ?

Describing such services as 'a legacy of the past', she said: 'We will review every one to see whether they can be sustained, because of the strong correlation between the lack of reliability in bus arrival timings and the length of the bus route.

'As you can imagine, the longer the route, the more uncertainty (in bus arrival timings) because of traffic conditions along the way that will accumulate as you get towards the end of the route.'

So obvious this "review" was done using a computer transport modelling software. Just enter the distance, time, plus a few variables and computer will churn out your bus travel times. No consideration of commuter waiting time, convenience or comfort.
The people who want to manage the public transport system should fucking use it instead of just looking at statistics and reports.

Amazing that people who do not take public transport make decisions that affect all who do, and decision on basis of business profitability and convenience for the transport operators .

Going to be tough for students who now take bus direct from home to school with 55cents (?) flat. Very soon they need to take bus to MRT station, then MRT to nearest bus stop to school, then another bus to school. 3 segments and multiple payments. Not only more expensive, the changing of modes is enough to tired out the poor (emotionally and financially) students.

Amazing MIWs, :oIo:

55cents you joking ? Time to have $5.00 bus rides for everyone .
