You are a victim of commercial trap. Plastic plants are cheap but sellers do not want to sell them cheap because people like you want to buy plastic plants at expensive price .

In order to make the deal, sellers mark up the cheap plastic plants to expensive plastic plants so that you buy them

I see industrial area workers grow edible vegetables in styrofoam boxes. Not sure can grow indoor. I have Mani plants & sweet potato outdoor in a garden. Quite fuss free & no worry about vegetables during covid when no vegetables coming in to Sg.
